| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Feb 3, 2007 12 oz. bottle. Very nice, sweet smell of milk chocolate with hints of coffee and raspberries and a slight hops bitterness. A pronounced, overwhelming yeast aroma emerges as one continues to sip. Pours a near black color of moderate opacity with a bright orange hue and an ordinary amount of short lasting, dark tan head; nice lacing. The primary flavor is coffee bitterness, which is surprising given the sweet aroma. Simplistic but nice. Long, very bitter coffee aftertaste. Light body. Smooth, as one would expect from an oatmeal stout. The beer looks and smells better than it tastes, but it nonetheless is enjoyable. sliffy (1966), Columbus, Ohio, USA
