3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 11/20
Very roasty smell. Midnight black color. Thick and creamy tan head. Roastiness is a prominent flavor. Somewhat creamy. Was expecting higher head retention and creaminess with the Oatmeal.

3.2 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
12 oz bottle in snifter. Dark brown to black, and not much head. Smells hoppy. Tastes of dark roasted malts, barley, oats. Nice and dry and clear in the palate. Too much hops for what I look for in a stout.

3.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
bottle @ Party Town / Florence KY --- Opaque brown/black with a tan head cover, shredded sheets of lace. Taste is chewy roasted malt that becomes a little sweeter as it enters the palate, adding bitter chocolate on the swallow. Chocolate bittering lasts deep into the finish, before revealing a tiny sweet malt at the very last. Not huge, but it sure drinks well.

2.9 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
12oz bottle from crossroads. Pours black with a finger of khaki colored foam. Aroma is kinda strange. Musty, dried pine needles, bad chocolate, and charred malts. Taste of bitter black coffee, burnt malts, chocolate, and a weird medicinal aftertaste.

4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Although I’d get nit-picky and call this a porter rather than a stout, this is a very nice choice for those not looking for a super-thick, really rich stout. This has a nice dry finish and not overly sweet but not bitter either. Coffee flavors do not dominate and make way for great chocolate, oat flavors and smoothness. Good all around.

2.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 13/20
Poured from bottle to glass. Dark hue with fizzy brown hue. Aroma is cola, burnt sugar, roasted coffee, cola. Mouthfeel is thin with a light body and soft carbonation. Taste is dry with an astringent bitterness in the following. Overall this is a so-so brew.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
A- Malty, roasty, coffee, burnt sugar.
A- Black color, black liquid, brown head.
T- Malty, roasty, coffee, chocolate.
P- Full body, thin texture, average carbonation, roasty finish.
O- How is this less alcohol than the average macro lager. Quite a ton of flavor for such a light beer. Roasty smell and taste. Not real complex or deep but it does well for what it is. Really not complaints.

Single from total wine. Lots of flavor especially for a beer with the alcohol percentage of a fucking Budweiser. Decent roastiness. The dominant flavor is that chewy light grain oatmeal flavors. Finish is a bit bittersweet cocoa.

Poured from bottle into a pint glass
Appearance – The beer pours a nearly pitch black color with just some hints of light shining through to show the beers deep brown color. Upon pouring there is one finger head of a tan foam atop the brew. The head has a lighter level of retention, fading moderately fast to leave a nice level of foamy lace on the sides of the glass.
Smell – The aroma of the beer is heaviest of a mix of roasted malt mixed with an oatmeal base. Overall the aroma is rather dry, with just a bit of a caramel sweetness in the smell. Along with these aromas are some bitter coffee smells as well as a light earthy aroma rounding it all out.
Taste – The taste begins with a mix of roasted malt and a moderate coffee taste. There is a little bit of a sweeter caramel and oatmeal flavor upfront with the caramel fading as the taste advances to the end. With the loss of the caramel comes some coffee flavors which bring with them a moderately level of bitterness. From the start, the oatmeal flavors increase up to the middle only to fade a bit again as the flavor advances to the end. With all the flavor transitions that take place and with a little bit of a earthy flavor coming to the tongue at the end of the taste, one is left with a slightly bitter and drier, light oat like, roasted coffee flavor to linger on the tongue.
Mouthfeel – The body of the beer is on the thicker and chewier side for a brew of only 4.9 % abv. with a carbonation level that is on the average side. Again considering the 4.9 % abv. of the brew, the thicker and chewier body of the brew are fantastic for the darker and oat flavors of the beer, all while the moderate carbonation keeps this a still easy drinker as its lighter abv. lends well to.
Overall – A rather nice tasty stout that is on the lower adb. side. A good session style stout that packs lots of flavor and body even when not nitrogen poured.
