1.5 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 3/20
Hard poured black with very little head that disappears pretty quick
Aroma is roasted malts and strange vegetal smell Iím not sure how to describe it
Mostly just a roasted coffeish taste. Oatmeal and chocolate arenít very noticeable with a hop bite on the back end
Mouthful is very thin and carbonation is practicly nonexistant
Overall definitely not the greatest stout Iíve ever had. Wouldnt pass it up but would not buy again

3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Bottle. Dark and smoky. The bitterness is like a baking chocolate, you know it is going to be rich but go back for more. Super light hops, almost tastes like burnt coffee until it warms up a bit. Cola aroma.

Not a very good stout, dark and some rich malt taste but the end is a bit bitter and just basically taste like a dark ipa.

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Poured a nearly black coloring with minimal head and lacing. Aroma was weak but seemed to be of sweet, candy and slightly fruity. Taste was very good - roasted malts, caramel, smokey, moderate hop bitterness finish. Went down very smooth. Palate was nice. Overall, a very good oatmeal stout.

3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
I poured a 12oz bottle into a nonic pint glass. There was no apparent freshness date (other than a smudged code on the shoulder of the bottle). It cost $2.75 ($0.23 per ounce).
Appearance: Black body with reddish/brown highlights. Forms a fairly large, tan, frothy head which laces and retains wonderfully.
Smell: Standard stout aroma with hints of dairy and milk chocolate, but with a slight sourness.
Taste: Thereís a distinct taste to most oatmeal stouts - they tend to be sweeter than most. But Breckenridge Oatmeal Stout seems to be missing that character. This is essentially a pub-style, no frills type of stout. Itís quite malty up front, almost the way wort tastes. Only a gentle bitterness through the middle of the palate with some roasted barley character. Itís almost burnt, actually, and imparts a slightly tangy or sour character. These flavors come back on the aftertaste. Theyíre not flaws per se, just a little out of place. I really didnít get much recognizable oatmeal character. That being said, the beer isnít bad at all as it does have all the makings of a good stout. Probably an ideal introductory stout.
Drinkability: The mouthfeel is a little thin and light for the style and a tad fizzy, too. Breckenridge Oatmeal Stout is only 4.9% ABV after all, so the lower gravity definitely comes through in the drinking process. Itís smooth, but not velvety, and leaves just a trace aftertaste of burnt malt. Overall, itís easy to handle and makes a good beer drinkerís beer.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle, 12oz. It pours a very dark brown body and a dense, light beige head. Lacings. The aroma is rather chocolatey, with some roasted malts and coffee. Quite dry on the palate, yet with a good sweetness in the flavor. Soft and pleasant carbonation, a bit thin though. But of course, at less than 5% ABV, I donít complain. Dark chocolate, coffee and roasted malts in the flavor, finishing with mostly dark chocolate. Especially considering the ABV, this is a really pleasant one. 130819

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20
A brown body with a tan head that had good retention and great lace. Aroma had nice roasted malts, a hint of semi-sweet chocolate and a mild smoked note. There was an off-putting hint of soy sauce to the aroma. Flavor was good. There was a nice roasted malt flavor. There was some chocolate notes, but overall it was a generic roasted malt flavor. Had a great mouth feel. Slightly dry finish.
