NachlamSie (1631), Tennessee, USA Apr 30, 2006 bottle. Pours black with some browns around the edges, tan head that fades. The aroma has detectable oats and sweet bready malts and small coffee bitterness. The oats are more noticeable in the flavor, though not as pronounced as in other examples of this style. Rather they blend well in the mix of coffee and subtle mocha. The first portion of the glass is absolutely great, but towards the end more off flavors come out like something that resembles burning newspapers. Sure, it is a little bitter but never gets overbearing in any direction. Strykzone (1459), Wood River, Illinois, USA Apr 29, 2006 Black as coal describes this beer. It also exhibits a medium sized head that is a nice tan color. Flavor is what one expects of an oatmeal stout. Roastiness and coffee dominate. There is also some sweet malt and bitterness. Interestingly, some tartness is also present. As expected, this is a substantial beer and is almost a meal in itself. ElBorracho (472), Chicago, Illinois, USA Apr 26, 2006 Bottle. Dark brown with a medium off-white head. Roasts, chocolate, and burnt coffee (not a good thing). I love oatmeal stouts but the bitterness in this one through it off. SunSkates (47), Arkansas, USA Apr 23, 2006 Dark reddish brown with not much of a head. Aroma of dark grains, milk and chocolate and metallic notes. Theres a sharp roast bitterness and creamy medium-full bodied mouthfeel. Good, but a bit rough. tronraner (1906), Maryville, Tennessee, USA Apr 20, 2006 Bottle. Pours opaque brown-black with rocky tan head. There is a light coffee aroma with some chocolate and caramel notes, and an occasional sharp wisp of charcoal. The flavor is lots of oats and roasted malt, but there’s a weird soapy taste in there, too. Cheap coffee, some chocolate. Cardboardy hop finish. I’ve had much better. Cornfield (4892), Oak Forest, Illinois, USA Apr 18, 2006 Pouring a deep brown with a creamy beige head, I like the aroma better than the flavor, propably because of the slightly watery nature of the drink. Coffee, roasted barley and barley malts, and a splash of chocolate appear both in nose and taste, although stronger in the former. Finishes on a mildly dry note.

TeamCool (7), USA does not count Apr 16, 2006 pours black and smooth. a smooth flavor with a pleasant slightly burnt aftertaste. not my favorite when it comes to oatmeal stouts. it has a good flavor, but I find it too mild for this kind of beer. hopdog (5535), Lansdale, Pennsylvania, USA Apr 16, 2006 12oz bottle acquired in trade with OhioDad (thanks!). Poured a dark, dark brown color with an averaged sized tan head. Aromas of chocolate, roast, and oat. Tastes of chocolate, roasted malts, oatmeal, and some coffee. Bitter sweet. Light lacing left on the glass.
