Brigadier (1212), Chagrin Falls, Ohio, USA Jan 31, 2006 Deep cherry in apppearance and total opaque. Picked up hints of roasted malt and coffee with a very slight hint of oatmeal in the aroma. Once I tasted it, the dominant feature was the coffee. If you could ferment black coffee, this might be what it would taste like. The flavor was pretty thin and dry - almost watery. For an oatmeal stout, I am suprised at the lack of oatmeal. It might be there, but is overwhelmed by other things. Overall not particularly bad, but not outstanding either. MacDaddyOJake (274), Richmond, Virginia, USA Jan 29, 2006 Very unique, but not uniquely good. Not much in the aroma, dark black body with a very small tan head. Too much coffee and semi-sweet chocolate in this one. Taste that usually goes along with oatmeal stouts wasnt there. It wasnt that I hated this beer, but it is definantly classified in the wrong section. Perhaps Breckenridge needs to rethink this one a bit. PGA324 (85), Savage, Minnesota, USA Jan 29, 2006 Poured with avergae light brown head that quickly diminished. Lacing was fair, color a dark muddy black. A moderately sweet flavor, average in duration, with a light hop ending. Aromas of malt, average feel in terms of palate. radagast83 (1272), Fairfax, Virginia, USA Jan 28, 2006 Bottle. Aroma was alright. Appearance was midnight black, with dark tan head. Smokey and coffee flavor. Retorp (2154), Tampa, Florida, USA Jan 27, 2006 Courtesy of Duane.

Aroma is of burnt grains/malt and mildly plastic-y. So dark plack it almost has a purple hue to it. Head is a compreseed pinky finger sized affair. Fore is somewhat smokey and toasty. Not at all to style. Palate gets thin and the flavor is watery with a mish mash of weak chocolate, tone down vanilla, cream and coffee. Just doesn’t get it right. cweston (11), Kansas, USA Jan 19, 2006 The best beer I’ve tasted from this brewer. less bread-like, more complex than I expected. Strong roasted coffee aroma and flavor. KSS (102), Plymouth, Minnesota, USA Jan 17, 2006 Pouredfrom the botle like Hershey syrup with a head. Smokey, woodsy, flavor was not what I expected from an oatlmeal stout, but not without merit. Sincere (145), wichita, Kansas, USA Jan 9, 2006 Updated: Mar 5, 200612 oz bottle. Pours dark and opaque. Medium sized light brown head that quickly diminishes. Good lacing on glass. The aroma is amazing, with a distinct chocolate and coffee emsemble. The beginning taste is smooth following into a slight but quickly disappearing medium, with a pleasant nutty and malty aftertaste. This was not only my first oatmeal stout, it was my first stout in general, so in turn I have the right to say this is an excellent beginner’s stout.
