COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Rich, round and roasted, our Oatmeal Stout is satisfaction in a glass. It's a bold, smooth-bodied concoction that oozes dark-roasted coffee aromas and flavors of espresso and semi-sweet chocolate. We round out these heady pleasures with a dose of flaked oatmeal for a creamy body and a semi-dry finish. Unforgettable.

No head with this beer. A light brown head with fine sized bubbles that quickly dissipated. The body was uncarbonated and opaque with a black hue. The nose was chocolate and coffee with a chocolate and coffee flavor that lingered. The mouthfeel was smooth and dry. This was a medium-full bodied beer with very sparse lacing.

This brew from a bottle poured an extremely small head of finely sized brown colored bubbles that left behind an opaque black colored body with no visible carbonation. The aroma was very nice but mild with notes of dark brown malt and mollasses. The mouthfeel was smooth with a malty bite and a lingering malt aftertaste and a slight bite to it. The flavor is very nice with a thick malt sweetness and a mollasses slightly coffeeish flavor.

Very, very dark with a light tan head and good lacing, really nice to look at. Yup, oatmeal in the aroma, but also some chocolates, coffee, and maybe a hint of malts. Oatmeal dominated the flavor as well, but there was a hint of the chocolate too. The mouthfeel was kind of like Guniess, very smooth, and just a hint of dryness at the end. Decent all around

Black with tan head. Decent coffee aroma and pleasant but not outstanding coffee flavor. Some nice bitterness in the finish. Ok but not outstanding.

UPDATED: JUL 9, 2007 Recently tried this again on tap. While I still think that it is a little thin, I now have more appreciation for it as a subtle brew. Tan head with a black body. The aroma was sweet chocolate and apples. The taste was roasted with dark chocolate and peanuts. The body was smooth and a little thin. Original rating follows. Why is this so widely distributed? It has little to make it stand out as a stout. Weak flavors of coffee and hops. Nothing that makes me want to come back to this beer.

I really liked the aroma; mostly nut and hops with a touch of coffee. Black and opaque yet produces very little head and practically no lacing. Foremost in the taste to me was espresso. And with it was that coffee bitterness. This is probably the bitterest oatmeal stout I've had to date. The taste is short and a bit dry on the palate. Overall a decent brew, but I won't likely be drinking much of it because of its cost and lack of availability at my usual store.

Pours black as night, with a cookie-brown head. Toasted aroma, flavour of toasted oatmeal, but not much else. Very silky smooth palate - almost as if they've been taking lessons from Guinness.

Neraly opague hue with a dense tan head and very good lace. Aroma hinted of chocolate, vanilla, espresso, aromatic hops, and nuts. Didn't detect any oat on the nose. The taste was a different matter, sliky sweet upfront with a rush of chocolate, vanilla, and (there it is) oats! Good undertone of bitter and twangy hops. Some smoke also detected on the finish. While a bit thin, the mouthfeel is still lush and inviting. Damn nice stout with enough bitterness to keep from becoming coy and boring. Recommended.

Pours opaque. Nice medium-sized brown head that is long-lasting. Aroma is coffee, chocolate, deliciously roasted. Also some sweetness. Very dry, bitter finish. Pretty tasty -- more roasty than Guinness but not as smooth to me. The oatmeal seems to add a thickness and vanilla flavor that I haven't tasted often. Pretty decent.

Tasted like roasted vanilla; not in an artifical vanilla porter but a bean, grain malt sweet way. Nicely delicious.
