black as mink, with footnotes of umber. the head was mostly creamy but embedded with big bubbles, and as a visual accoutrement it managed a lingering lushness that almost audibly sings out: "drink me!" nose is mostly a slab of bakerís chocolate, burnt raisins, and cedar-leaf cigar wrapper. very smooth and nicely sweet: roasted oat -cluster granola washed down with coffee. alot of bitterness spreads out from that initial impact of lite fruitiness. nice, sure, but like a ten pound guard dog, perhaps just a bit weak.

The aroma really breaks free when it is quite warm, but even before that, I sensed a nice jokt of chocolate, coffee, and above all roasted/toasted flavors. A bit harsh, too bitter in the end, but I have few complaints to make about the palate. Decent stff.

I havenít really found a stout I can tolerate, besides Sam Adams Cream Stout and of course, the ubiquitous Guiness. The smell of ummm trash eminating from the beer was not a good sign and neither was the the tingling sensation in the back of my throat that wouldnít stop.

It tastes like a watered-down stout. It feels like a watered-down stout. It must be a watered-down stout. Not terribly good. The flavor thatís there is decent, but there isnít much of it to be had. No oatmeal flavor whatsoever...

Watery, weak, Disappointing flavor. Good aroma and apperance leads up to disconcerting lack of real flavor. With no aftertaste.

Black as tar, but not as thick. This is porterish in viscosity. Somewhat sweet, but not overly so. Expected sweeter for an oatmeal stout. Coffee malt flavor comes on strong. Bitter, but pleasant. Nice roast flavor. Good.

Weak coffee aroma, watery and thin for a stout, not very good.

Some chocolate in the aroma. Pretty dark beer, nearly black. Light head. but carbonation is there. Medium-bodied, roasty and somewhat dry stout. A bit of coffee and a slight hint of fruitiness. Some hops for the finish. Not a bad beer really, overall a bit light in most categories that stouts excel in.
