Pretty standard stout. Mainly coffee and chocolate flavors. A bit thin for me. Not particularly memorable.

2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
12 oz bottle into a pint glass.
A: Pours a very dark ruby color; Iím let down that itís not mostly pitch black. The head is a one finger mocha shade. Retention is decent, and nice lacing is left behind.
S: Thereís a nice snap of roast here, along with a significant nuttiness. Hints of chocolate and oatmeal float around. Nothing special here, but it hits all the right notes a lighter oatmeal stout should.
T: Actually, it tastes closer to a roasty brown ale than a stout. The start is strong in roasted flavor, before a finish of nuts and oatmeal. I know whatís missing from this brew, but itís hard for me to explain, so Iíll just say this: all the roast here need more ístoutyí flavor to balance it out. Just a bit more defined sweetness (like cream or chocolate) would go a long way toward making this really good.
M: This is a lot drier and cleaner than I expected, with only a hint of lingering sweetness. The strong carbonation helps its drinkability cause, too. But you know what would really give it great drinkability? Better flavors.

3.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20
Good looking pour: silky white head perched above a dark brown body.
Nose is dead on for the style: oats and roasty malts, vanilla, dry, a touch bready. Taste doesn't hit the same notes, unfortunately. Many of the above flavors are here, but they don't blend as they should. Carb level is a bit high as well, leading to an unsatisfying texture.
Some good things going on here. This is a totally respectable shelf beer which, although meager on the whole, is a step above most beer brewed here in Texas. One day this state will get its act together; until then, I'll keep spending my shelf beer dollars on brews from out of state.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
12fl oz bottle. Pours almost black with a dark red edge in the light, and a head the colour of espresso foam. Aromas of light smoke, coffee, light caramel, molasses, and an earthy note. Light acidity up front with mostly coffee, and molasses notes throughout. Also some caramel, and light smoke and roasty notes in the finish. As far as 4.9% stouts go, this is flat out solid. A great session option.

1.9 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 8/20
Appearance: beer is a very dark black color, hues of brown when held up to the light on the edges, pours with a small tan head that dissipates quickly
Aroma: dark roasted black coffee, not much else
Taste: coffee, a coffee bitterness,
Palate: lively carbonation, coffee bitterness on the aftertaste, moderate mouthfeel
Overall: not one of my favorite stouts, just like drinking coffee, not very complex either
