Aroma: sweet, soft, creamy.
Taste: full, rich, tasty, toasty, with a prodigious mouthfeel, satisfying texture, rich and delicious. Long, rewarding finish.
A most marvelous stout, one I’d happily quaff again and again.

| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Sep 7, 2005 A pleasant stout. Not spectacular, but enjoyable. Black, brown around the edges, deep tan head. Aroma faintly of chocolate, good coffee note without being acrid. Flavor matched, lightly liqour oriented, more chocolate than coffee. Nice stuff. | 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 12/20 | Jul 5, 2005 Sampled with Tim, Rudy, and maybe Sammy. This rating is barely legible. Aroma is metallic chocolate with a slight sweetness. Opaque dark brown color with a creamy light tan head. Chocolatey, roasty, and slightly astringent. Boring. willblake (2194), Belcamp, Maryland, USA

Mite lactic on the nose, some bitter coffee, caramel. Pretty effy stuff, wet, thin for a schwarz, let alone an oatmeal stout. No sweetness where I wanted it to be. Not balanced, but has some decent flavors here and there. blutt59 (2186), Dallas, Texas, USA

| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 13/20 | Nov 5, 2006 Bottle. Thick aroma of sweet malt, roast, coffee, dark chocolate, and lactose. Pitch pour with a creamy light brown head. Very roasty and pleasantly bitter taste, chocolate and lactose back off a bit. Mild lactic sweetness. Alternatingly watery/creamy mf, light body, bitter end and very dry aftertaste. Slightly ashy note which I actually like here. Not really that sweet for a SS. I appreciate this for its flavor, and wouldn’t pass up another, but this needs a lot more body. whaleman (2171), North Wales, Pennsylvania, USA

Hints of smoke, coffee, and chocolate with a bitter finish. Rich palate and nice natural carbonation. This is a decent beer from an underrated brewery. Granted, my samples have come fresh from the brewery in Breckenridge. The bottled version from Denver lacks the same luster. BDR (2170), Roseville, Minnesota, USA
