UPDATED: APR 18, 2005 Pours black. Average sized dark brown head. Chocolate malt aroma...maybe some sweet and a tiny hint of grain coming through. Flavor mimics the aroma. Coffee/chocolate malt, a little sweet, and maybe a tiny hint of grain. Not as sweet as some other sweet stouts, i.e. Mackeson XXX, but in my opinion that is a plus. Medium body, but, unfortunately, a little bit of a watery texture. Medium bitter finish that stays at the back of the tongue for a bit. Overall it’s pretty good in my opinion. I will get this again when this 6 pack is gone.

I actually really enjoyed this one. Really potent tastes of funk and oat. Smell has some serious oat in it too. Pours with a nice foamy mocha head but tracing is only ok. I really appreciate the oatmeal aspect in this one. Bottle from Health Food Store in Lebanon, NH.

Pours nearly black, short dark head.
Scent is coffee, chocolate, vanilla.
Taste is roasted malt, bitter coffee.....
Not bad, though really couldn’t find any oatmeal tones.
The bittter is a bit rough and harsh..wish it were a touch creamier.

Pours dark with a short lasting tan head. Hop character is noticeable with aromas of coffee, vanilla and bittersweet chocolate. Bitterness strikes first followed by smooth roasted malts, nice palate and penetrating roasted aftertaste

Pours black. Small brown head. Nutty and malty smell. Chocolate hints somewhat oily. Not in love but not bad

Pours deep brown with a short lasting tan head. Hop character is noticeable with aromas of coffee and bittersweet chocolate. Bitterness strikes first followed by smooth roasted malts. Finish maintains some bitterness as well.

Pours an opaque brown with a tan head and little lacing. The aroma is roasted malt with coffee notes. The pallet is dark roasted malts, and pleasingly bitter coffee taste. Nice combination of malt and carbonation.

12oz bottle - pours black with plenty of beige head. Nose is roasty and smoky. Flavors adds bread and chocolate. Tastes is sweet and somewhat bitter. Medium body. Don’t care for the aftertaste (acidic).

Great dark brown color with a minimal head and a nice coffee aroma. Nice full creamy long lasting finish with the coffee, chocolate flavor intact.

Pours black.. Thick brown head... nutty cocoa taste... Not bad..bitter finish

Very smoky tasting stout, which overbears the other flavors. Some caramel and coffee hints, but smoke overbears. The palate doesn’t help, with water finish and ending, and big flavor hit in the middle. Smooth and mild doesn’t describe.
