GreatLibations (1440), Last Supper, Arizona, USA Feb 25, 2007 Pours almost black w/ a medium semi creamy froth that stick to the walls leaving snail tracks the way down. Nice thick lacing w/ a full dusty canopy. Aromas of mildly roasted malts and a pinch of charcoal. Full nectar w/ velvety residual effers. Nice! Moderately roasted, thick and creamy, fantastic. No sweetness at all. Bold cocoa, raosted coffee bean, molases. I love this stuff. Theres a defined bittering on the finish w/ a perfect souring component. Perfect balance. The bitter cocoa really lingers on the finish. Highly recommended. pants678 (13), Ft Worth, Texas, USA Oct 1, 2007 Really delicious brew, a great oatmeal stout. The head is a nice beige and has a alluring burnt coffee aroma. It’s dark, pushing black and tastes of chocolate and hints of caramel. Well balanced with a nice finish. Kirsch (12), East Lansing, Michigan, USA May 20, 2008 Subtle Aroma, almost too subtle. Dark black color with a little bit of light able to shine through. Great subtle flavor. Very pleasing to the palate with smooth beginning and finish. Overall a great beer that tasted great all the way through. SmellGood (314), Memphis, Tennessee, USA Oct 26, 2002 Updated: Sep 23, 2005The beer that broke my stout cherry...ahhh the sentimental favorite and still holds a place in my heart. MrRain (415), O’Fallon, Illinois, USA Nov 22, 2005 12oz bottle poured in English pint - This beer pours a completely opaque brown with a frothy brown head. It looks delicious! It has the expected oatmeal aroma but nothing particularly adventerous there. It has a good oatmeally and roasted barley taste a with definite coffee base. It has a good lingering aftertaste that is warming and pleasant. There is no hint of the metallic aroma or taste that some oatmeal stouts have. intheric (20), Richmond, Virginia, USA Jun 28, 2005 Bottle - this was my first oatmeal stout of any kind, so take this for what it is worth. Excellent frothy head that lasted until the end of the beer. Excellent mouthfeel, very refreshing. Cybercat (778), Georgia, USA Feb 8, 2008 Pours a rich, appetizing sable-brown with a thick tan head that persists for a bit. Aroma is very inviting, smoky and stouty with a hint of molasses. Texture is not as rich as I expected, but the flavor is delicious and smoky with hints of coffee and brown sugar, and a nice bitter hoppy nip in the finish. I am fond of oatmeal stouts, and if this is not the best one I have ever tried it is still a winner. PhillyBeer2112 (2084), Orange Park, Florida, USA Sep 24, 2001 Updated: Aug 18, 2003Quite dry - with plenty of chocolate in the aroma and flavor. Mild roastiness. Moderate body, not heavy but definitely not empty, nicely smooth. Moderate coffee presence. Perhaps even some smokiness in the finish? A very nice stout.
