Pours extremely dark with about a finger of head which dissipates within a couple minutes leaving minimal lacing. Smell is of coffee malts. Taste is coffee and to a very small extent, chocolate. Unfortunately, there’s a cloying sour undertone to the taste. The mouthfeel is also a little too thin for an oatmeal stout. Overall, a good beer, but there are many more high quality oatmeal stouts that I would go for before this one.

| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jan 3, 2010 Very basic Oatmeal stout. Not very complex. Minimal aromas, and a simple roasted malt flavor. The hops are gentle for a stout. Goose Island Oatmeal stout and, of course Samuel Smith’s are better. j12601 (1412), Poughkeepsie, New York, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Jan 1, 2010 Bottle courtesy of jbye. Pours a hefty dark black with a large light mocha head. Roast, and a touch of wood and smoke. Medium bodied, lots of nice roast, with almost a spicy cayenne note on the finish balancing out the subtle sweet vanilla tones. Pretty tasty, thanks Josh. arminjewell (229), Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA

| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Dec 19, 2009 Bottle from variety pack. Poured black with light head and lacing. As expected, aroma and flavor is roasty malts, chocolate and coffee. Gets much better as it warms. Will buy again. Tessic (481), Brantford, Ontario, Canada
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Dec 16, 2009 This stout poured a deep black colour with a nice, big, brown, quickly dissipating head. To the nose there are scents of caramel, smoke, cereal and cocoa. First taste is smooth but a little watery on its mouthfeel. Flavours of smoke and burnt malt at the forefront. Rich malt and caramel lingering behind. Burnt malt flavour lingering. tpd975 (257), Riverview, Florida, USA
| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Dec 10, 2009 A: Poured an obsidian black with a nice 2 finger head. The head died down to a small ring which hung around until the end of the glass.
S: Light aroma with a hint of charcoal. No real chocolate or coffee aroma.
T: Smoked stout aroma with a hint of espresso.
M: Medium bodied and pretty dry finish.
D: Went down pretty smooth, but I would stick to one glass. Finhead (104), Illinois, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 17/20 | Dec 4, 2009 A black pour with a thin tan head and good lacing. It has a malty chocolate aroma that is fairly subtle. The taste starts lively and semi-sweet, then it smoothes into a dry finish with a hint of coffee aftertaste.
