Appearance: Clear, brown body with a small, foamy, off-white head. Patchy lacing throughout.
Smell: Questionably boozy nose of figs and grape skins with sweetish, grainy malts coming in second.
Taste: Sweet caramel overlaying a pale, grainy maltiness. Fruity flavors of figs and grape skins. Touch of alcohol heat. Predominately spicy hops with a medium bitterness. Finishes bittersweet with a lingering alcohol heat that you can never seem to shake.
Mouthfeel: Medium-bodied. Medium carbonation. Sticky mouthfeel.
Drinkability: Not so good. Breckenridge opened a beer that contained true evils to be unleashed upon all mankind — ills, toils and even sickness — and finally hope. Yes, hope. Hope that my next beer will be far, far better. DMorrish (13), , Ohio, USA
| 1.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 1/10 | 3/5 | 3/10 | 2/5 | 10/20 | Jan 16, 2009 Bottle. Poured a one-finger head, very light gold. I can’t get over the smell. Putrid and sour...leachate? Appearance is nice. Clear, red. Flavor is sour, matching smell. Low carbonation. Disappointing, as it was highly recommended by a friend I consider a reliable source. I guess I know who to give the remaining five. VitaminR (449), Colorado, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Jan 13, 2009 Malty caramel, slight molasses. Reddish brown color, medium head. Deep sweetness, caramel, raisins, and a nice bitter balance. Good carbonation, medium mouth feel, malty, but cleanish finish. Very solid beer, deep flavors and satisfying. Aroma is of toasted and caramel malts, dark fruits, and brown sugar. Flavors are not as strong as I was hoping. Toasted and caramel malts dominate with a hint of brown sugar. Very little lingering flavor. KingpinIPA (842), Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA

| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Dec 5, 2008 12 oz bottle. This is not my favorite Bock, but i have to say it was a good beer. There is a rich maltiness, with sweet brown sugar hints. The color was much lighter than I was expecting, but the flavors were all there. Overall I would say hats off to Breck. unclemattie (2447), Georgia, USA
| 2.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 3/5 | 4/10 | 2/5 | 12/20 | Aug 17, 2008 12oz bottle. Reddish-brown color, off-white head. Aroma of rich malt, fresh brownies, slight citrus leans toward the posibility of a pleasantly hoppy brew. strange sweet candy flavors, date sugar, some citrus. I’m sure this would be much better on tap. so far, not my favorite Bock. Thin body, although the flavor is a bit more full.
