Hands down my absolute favorite porter. Pouring this into a glass will make the whole kitchen smell like vanilla. The vanilla taste is perfect and so is the thickness. A must try if you like porters, or vanilla.

Draft during Great COntenders 2011. Clear dark ruby brown with a dense khaki head. Rich aroma of milk chocolate, whiskey, vanilla, Irish creme, and smooth oak. Amazing aroma, the likes of which I canít do justice with words. Taste has some dominant whiskey tones, but without any of that palate ruining booziness or heat. Lovely restrained whiskey flavor with a ton of vanilla and a big fat dose of milky chocolate, with a mild oak tone. Just incredible.

All I can say is wow. Whiskey vanilla nose that just pops out of the glass. Black red color with great ephervescents. The palate stays clean without bein too weighted down. Could almost be drunk on a warm day but great for cooler weather.

Sampled at the Paramount Cafť Beer Festival, pre-GABF on September 28, 2011, Denver, CO. Dark brown pour with very little head. Light whiskey and vanilla aroma with light chocolate in the background. The whiskey brings the vanilla to the front of the flavor and is a very nice addition. Medium bodied. A very nice improvement on the standard beer.

Even though it was Oak aged the woody notes were subdued and the Beer seemed smoother than the usual version. very nice drinking at Winking Lizard and I bought the glass.

Tap @ 471. Brown appearance with a light tan head. Vanilla, mild chocolate malty, delicious Stranahans whiskey aroma. Tasty vanilla, chocolatey flavor return all of the Stranahans deliciousness- vanilla, oak and toffee. Definite upgrade over the normal version.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
A much stronger version of the vanilla porter in the barrels. The whiskey comes through along with some wood and dark fruits. It is good stuff.

Poured dark brownish black at Rackhouse Pub, aroma had big sweet vanilla, chocolate, toffee, some coffee, roast in there, smelled very tasty like a vanilla chocolate milkshake almost. Taste disappointed a bit, was a bit watery and tastes were a bit weak, but notes of vanilla, some bourbon adding to that vanilla, some oak, chocolate, toffee and coffee, finishing roasty.
