2.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 Pigfoot (2267) - Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA - SEP 5, 2004
Appearance: crysatl clear yellow color, with a solid, but slight ring of white foam.
Aroma: citric and somewhat sour, with a big hoppiness that I like.
Taste: big texture, buzzing on the tastebuds, but quick to mellow. Light bodied, crisp and refreshing, with a simple, but tasty finish.
Flavor is well maintained, and this ale basically does what it sets out to do: slakes the thirst, no fuss, no muss. Lemony taste persists, and character is well represented in the name: summery and bright.
2.2 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 9/20 Murphy (1759) - Fort Collins, Colorado, USA - AUG 28, 2004
UPDATED: MAR 26, 2005 Clear golden, ok head. Taste has some wheat elements, but no citrus at all. Metallic and off. This one is at least drinkable.
ReRate: A more shameful version of BMC. Sour corn.
2.2 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20 MaxPower (961) - St. Louis, Missouri, USA - AUG 27, 2004
Hazy golden color with a small white head that quickly fades, there is absolutely no lacing, looks almost flat. Has a light grainy stale bread aroma, mild citrus flavor. Light bodied with a slick mouthfeel, some lemon flavor in its strange aftertaste, not much going on here.
1.8 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 6/20 Ringo (963) - Loveland, Colorado, USA - AUG 21, 2004
Although somewhat better than the Hefe Proper that I just had from this brewery, this beer still sucks. That’s the best thing that I can say about it; that it sucks less than the Hefe Proper. Tastes and smells pretty much like dry grass clippings. This is a pretty bad brewery.
1.9 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 8/20 Indra (2361) - Overland Park, Kansas, USA - JUL 28, 2004
Light, sweetly grainy malt aroma, a touch of wheat perhaps, also a faint chemical smell -- not all that appealing, to be honest. Light golden yellow color, clear, with a subsiding head. Flavor is fairly subdued as well, just a bit of light, sugary sweetness and grain, then a touch of wheat towards the finish. Palate is unfortunately a bit thin and bland, just not lively enough for this style. My girlfriend bought this, took one swig and said "no way", which is significant given her affinity for American Wheats. I offered to finish it for her, and I must admit, I’m glad I didn’t buy it. If you happen to, drink it cold.
3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 Falconseye8 (542) - Evans, Colorado, USA - JUL 25, 2004
First Breckenridge. My impressions, a little thin for a wheat and a bit watery. Clean and crisp, this wheat has no citrus presence. Its a solid wheat but I’ve had better.
3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 irishsnake (354) - Oakland, California, USA - JUL 25, 2004
pours a very pale yellow, slightly hazed, with a lot of bubbles supporting a long-lasting white head. nose is relatively bland; some graininess with some fruity yeast notes, and a mild spiciness. flavor is lightly malty, with a somewhat lemon-y finish. mouthfeel is balanced, somewhat dry, and lively. very easy to drink, if not overly exciting or complex (which would seem to be the point).
2.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20 BeerLimey (2135) - California, USA - JUL 17, 2004
Pale, lightly clouded, yellowy hue, moderate head formation. Malty bubble gum aroma, mild peppery spice. Sweet lemon flavor, grainy. Slightly bitter and astringent in the finish.
2.4 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20 MilkmanDan (1943) - Eagan, Minnesota, USA - JUL 2, 2004
If the brewmaster’s goal was to create the perfect ale for summertime quaffing, the brewmaster needs to try again next year. Very light colored, no real head. Nose is bready, a bit tart, and sweet, but not much there. Flavor largely similar, quite sweet with some lemon. A bit acidic at the end. Aftertaste? What’s that. Yet another bland, indistinct American Wheat.
2.9 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 argo0 (9224) - Washington DC, USA - JUN 20, 2004
Sparkling apple juice body topped by small white head. Aroma is doughy, mild grassy. Taste is medium sweet, wheat, bready, lemon, with lemon and a hint of grassy in the aftertaste. Light body, some tart crispness. Easy to drink. An adequate summery beer.
