The brewmaster's goal: the perfect ale for summertime quaffing, nothing more. SummerBright is the result. The craftsman's touch combines white wheat, two row pale and munich malt with the pacific northwest's most intriguing hops to create a bright, clean ale ideal for picnicking, evenings on the screen porch and enjoying the whims of the summer breeze.

Muddy Dull Yellow, Small Head, No Lacing. Skunky. Wheat Sour and Skunk. Major let down. Summer beer gone bad before summer end. No dates on labels, so God knows what ewer went wrong with it. Not a happy camper...

Pale gold color out of the bottle with a thin white head. Dusty grain nose with some hop notes. Caramel sweetness with some English muffin and cracker malts, some puffed wheat cereal, some chalk and a lemon cookie finish. Nice enough summer wheat ale.

Can. Light orange and wheat malt aroma. Hazy golden yellow with large white head. Over-ripe orange and wheat malt flavor. No off flavors - just very light/bland.

Pours straw-colored. No head. Aromas are almost nonexistent; perhaps a hint of cut grass. No hop aroma. The taste is surprisingly flat and ordinary for a Breckenridge product, like a typical macrobrew. Slight lemony aftertaste; otherwise, very dry finish. Overall, very disappointing and ordinary. There are many, many better summer ales out there.

Grabbed as part of flight at Stagshead mostly to lighten things up from porters and stouts. Pours yellow withbwhite head. Nose of light lemons. Tastes of citrus, hay, wheat, and watery. Not much going on

Can. Aroma is relatively weak. Flavor is light, citrusy and refreshing. Nice zest to it.

Okay but not very flavorful or special. Good for a hot afternoon but probably won't buy again. The Derricks ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

I poured a 12oz can into a tumbler glass. There was no apparent freshness date. It cost $2.70 ($0.23 per ounce).

Appearance: Pale blonde hue, nearly crystal clear, some carbonation visible. Forms a small, bright white, foamy head which actually laces the glass and doesnít completely dissipates.

Smell: Generic summer beer aroma to the nth degree. Perhaps a hint of citrus, but almost lager-like.

Taste: Thereís no reason I should be rating Breckenridge SummerBright Ale as low as I am. But thereís no reason a solid craft brewery like this should be putting out such a boring beer. All thatís really wrong with this beer is that itís so unremarkable in every way. Itís needs to have a sliver of flavor worth savoring to honestly get a recommendation from me.

Trying to describe individual flavors here is challenging. Itís essentially the same as every summer ale, only milder (I didnít know that was possible, either). No distinct spices, no maltiness per se, and certainly no hop character. At least itís not off-putting with an adjunct flavor or something flawed. Iíd definitely take this over a macro lager, but whatís here is not bad, just lame.

Drinkability: While Breckenridge SummerBright Ale might not be all that fun to drink, at least itís not a challenge to do so. The mouthfeel is thin, relatively tepid and extremely smooth going down. Itís refreshing and leaves a fairly clean aftertaste. At only 4.5% ABV itís sessionable for sure, but Iíd need more flavor to want another one.

On tap at the brewery in Denver. Pour is clear straw with a frothy white head and great lacing. Wheaty, doughy, straw, lightly citrusy, and biscuity aroma. Taste is straw, wheat, lightly grassy, bread, dough, and biscuit. Light bodie with high carbonation. Easy to drink but nothing special - chuggable.
