Excellent stout in the old style. Incredibly thick head that stays frothy long into the drinking. Smooth.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Draft @ Doherty’s East Ave Irish Pub. On 2 Feb 2013. Black color with nice thick tan foam sitting on the surface. Aroma is very burnt coffee grounds, bitter chocolate and a faint hop. I was told this was a low ABV stout, if that is so then it has nice flavor. Brunt malts, chocolate with caramel. The nitro pour does give it a nice creamy texture. Overall good but not amazing.

2.4 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 1/5 OVERALL 9/20
Deep brown-black with possibly the best head ive ever seen on a beer; thick off-white mousse-like head that lasts forever. Taste is a bit odd; a bit lactic, approaching tart with slight stout roast character...not overly pleasant.

3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20
Tap. Pours opaque black with a thick pillow of beige head on top; outstanding retention that lasts to the bottom of the pint. Aroma is roast malt, vanilla, figs, light caramel, plums, and faint woody notes. Flavor is sweet malts and dark fruit esters with and some dry earthy notes towards the end; dry finish. Full body with low carbonation.

3.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 10/20
This beer had SO much potential. Pours jet black, with an oil thickness, and a solid 1" bright white dense foam head.
The smell is slightly sweet and a little tangy. Had in a busy bar setting so may not have had the best opportunity.
The taste is where everything went downhill. The overall profile was terribly underwhelming. Subtle chocolate/sweet notes, followed by a sourness that I didn't tend to agree with. If there were any coffee in it I would have had to dig deep for it.
I will say this though, it was one of the only beers I've ever had that left about half an inch of head at the bottle on the glass when I was finished.

A good stout and it’s nice to be back into the dark beers with the recent weather changes in Texas. A good roasty, burnt and malty flavor. No hints of bell pepper that sometimes hit me wrong in bad stouts.

On nitro at the Ballpark brewpub, this is essentially the oatmeal stout on nitro and it is beautiful and tasty. Creamy with some roast and some nice chocolate notes. Enjoyable!!

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Draught. Dark brownish black pour with a medium dark tan head. Aroma of oatmeal and roasted malt. Slightly thin mouthfeel with a faint dry finish. Surprisingly refreshing but not much depth or complexity.

Pint @ Flying Saucer in Austin. Looks like a Guinness with a darker, tanner head and more aggressive, darker lacing. Feels smooth like a Guinness but it is much more flavorful, with notes of chocolate, oats and smoked meats. Real good dry stout.

Nitro at Flying Saucer Sugar Land. Dark brown or black with a big, creamy, beige head. Aroma of chocolate and roasted coffee. Taste is semi-sweet stout- roasted and just a little sweet. Medium-full bodied, fluffy and smooth.
