COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Who would have thought deep in the jungles of Papua New Guinea and Madagascar grew the perfect ingredient to build an extraordinary Porter in Colorado? An ale that has all the chocolate and roasted nut flavor of a classic Porter, with an enigmatic surprise thrown in for good measure, real vanilla bean. Breckenridge Brewery’s Vanilla Porter. A vanilla kiss in a rich, dark sea.

Bottle. Pours reddish brown with medium sized spongy beige head, vanilla mocha aroma, medium carbonation, roasted nut taste with vanilla flavor, abrupt finish with burnt aftertaste. Quite a smooth and enjoyable porter.

Bottle from Hannaford Exeter, NH. Aroma is mild vanilla with a hint of chocolate. A little bit of yeasty bread dough. Appearance is clear, dark magenta--almost black with decent sparkle and only a ring of a head. Taste is strong vanilla, moderately sweet. Palate is surprisingly thin and light bodied for a porter while carbonation is fairly lively--an initial light sting to the lips and then a bit later on the tongue. Finish is pretty average with mix of sweet and mild bitter. Overall, a good choice if you are looking for a really light porter (almost a non-porter) with the appearance and taste characteristics but not the palate.

Excellent example of a porter. With the added vanilla. Vanilla was present but not overpowering. Light mild roast and a lager like finish.

This porter is very smooth, a little bit chocolatey. Drinkable and will have again. Love the mouth feel.

Pours a dark brown, black maybe. Creamy beige head, but not too thick. All kinds of lacing as I drink it.

Aroma is of dark roasted malt, and coffee, and chocolate. Not really getting much vanilla. Ooh, coming in late, is some hops.

Taste is very clean. I can taste the vanilla, but it’s not really bold. It’s more in the finish. I taste quite a bit of chocolate. It’s the typical porter, plus vanilla.

Mouthfeel is medium body. It’s sweet, but not so vanilla. It’s a porter. Very nice. Very inviting. Could use a little more body.

Overall, it’s delicious. This is one I would certainly seek out and drink. It’s very tasty. Very drinkable, and yet, not so high in alcohol that it wouldn’t be sessionable. Yay!

Bottle. Pours a hazy brown with white head. Aroma of vanilla and caramel. Tastes of vanilla, caramel and bitter hops. Very sweet finish. A sweet and delicious beer.

Not bad at all. Strong vanilla flavor. Sweeter than I’d prefer. But, quite flavorful for the ABV.

It pours brown with a tan head. The head doesn’t leave lacing. The aroma is a bit of nuts, a syrupy smell, and that’s about it. The taste does involve vanilla with a bit of poppy carbonation and roasted malts.

Nothing remarkable here. Actually pretty forgettable. Has the classic porter flavor with a presence of vanilla. On the light side for me with a lack luster aroma and pour.
