Who would have thought deep in the jungles of Papua New Guinea and Madagascar grew the perfect ingredient to build an extraordinary Porter in Colorado? An ale that has all the chocolate and roasted nut flavor of a classic Porter, with an enigmatic surprise thrown in for good measure, real vanilla bean. Breckenridge Brewery’s Vanilla Porter. A vanilla kiss in a rich, dark sea.

330ml bottle served in a pint glass. A: Pours a dark amber to brown color forming a medium bubbled tan head. Low retention and only very few spotty liacings left in the glass. S: Strong caramel malts. The vanilla bouquet is just adorable. Notes of cocoa and chocolate. Dark dry fruits, moka coffee and earthy yeasts. T: Sweet upfront. Notes of caramel malts toffee, cocoa, coffee, chocolate vanilla, dry dark fruits. Very mild hops bitterness. Earthy yeasts. M: Medium body. Medium carbonation. Vanilla and cocoa in the aftertaste. O: Good drinkability. Smooth and easydrinking Porter. Recommended

I found this to be an unexpected surprise! Got it at my local Publix in a bottle. The taste is a warm vanilla, mixed with a chocolate and well bodied mouth feel. Very nice tan head when poured. More of a yeast flavor than a hoppy flavor, which suits me very well as I am not a hop freak. Has a bit of alcohol flavor, which for me, is a bit of a down side, but not so much of one that it turns me off of it. If you allow it to "breath" a bit, the flavor comes out more. I would love to buy this again, however, this was the last 6 pack that Publix had! (sigh) I’m sure I’ll find it again.

Nitro draft! Aroma is a creamy dark malt. Appearance is a dark brown with a tan head. Taste is a sweet vanilla that rolls into dark malt and finishes pretty even. Overall, a good beer that is a classic in my book. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

"a nice lively brew due mainly to the good use of vanilla, otherwise not too much to this fairly light but smooth porter. might be boring w/o the beans, but with them, tasty and smells like dessert."

Nice dark roasted, chocolate, porter, with an amazing smack of vanila. I will say the nitrogen carbonated version is amazing. A much thicker, creamer head which is very vital for something like this. If you get the opportunity to get a nitro version, get it.

Nitro at Knotty Barrel, San Diego. Dark brown with lasting creamy head, obvs. Aroma of chocolate, vanilla, coffee, roast. Tastes moderate sweet, light bitter light acidity, dry finish. Thinnish but nitro hides it. Alright.

UPDATED: OCT 22, 2014 Dark brown pour with minimal lightly lacing tan head. Aroma is toasted malt, a bit of chocolate and espresso, and hues of vanilla. Taste is medium sweet with an oily lightly carbonated vanilla finish. A pretty good offering from Breckenridge.

A nice chocolate malty creamy vanilla. Sweet with a bit off light sourness. Thin but thick due to nitro. Great for breakfast. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
