12 oz poured into pint glass. Appears dark brown with finger of off white head. Smells of chocolate and caramel, no vanilla, roast coffee. Tastes of caramel coffee with a hint of sweet and a bit of vanilla. The palate is thin and smooth. Not bad! I just wish for a more vanilla flavor.

3.3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Dark red pour with a single finger head. Creamy mouth. Aroma is full of grain and hints of vanilla. Taste is bready. This is kind of like sucking on a vanilla candy. Slightly medicinal. Tons of lace.

Had high hopes for this beer, but very disappointed. Way too light for a porter, where is the flavor? And the vanilla seemed out of place. Not for me.

3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Aroma has a little vanilla, but there’s something else in there that is not so pleasant. Medium body, a little chocolate, subtle vanilla flavor. Okay, but not great.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Straight from the bottle at my Aunts 80th birthday party. Nose of vanilla on light cocoa. Vanguard is dark malts followed quickly by the sturdy vanilla flank. Warbles a bit at this point and goes a tad watery then vanilla continues to finish.

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 15/20
12oz bottle into a pint glass.
Pours a clear deep, dark brow with a thick one finger light tan head. Extremely good head retention and it also has a nearly solid layer of lacing all the way around the glass.
Aroma has loads of vanilla along with caramel, some light roasted coffee and just a hint of smoke. Not bad but it is a little bit on the weak side.
Lots more vanilla in the flavor bordering on too much. There is almost a bit of a medicinal note to it that is off-putting. More lightly roasted coffee, caramel, and a bit of smoke. Mouthfeel is pretty light but silky with a pretty good dose of stickiness on the finish.
Overall, this beer is definitely drinkable and not bad but is just lacking that something to make it great. Glad I got to try it but not really something I will be seeking out.

3.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 13/20
This beer almost has it all for a porter... Aroma is strong chocolate and vanilla. Appearance is dark with a lasting cream colored head with significant lacing. Taste is as advertised with chocolate and vanilla forward and throughout. What’s lacking is mouth feel and complexity. But it is a Porter and not a stout... So the lighter side of mouth feel and leaning towards simplicity may be what’s expected. Good easy drinking beer.
