Who would have thought deep in the jungles of Papua New Guinea and Madagascar grew the perfect ingredient to build an extraordinary Porter in Colorado? An ale that has all the chocolate and roasted nut flavor of a classic Porter, with an enigmatic surprise thrown in for good measure, real vanilla bean. Breckenridge Brewery’s Vanilla Porter. A vanilla kiss in a rich, dark sea.

35,5 cl bottle @ hotel room, San Diego. Aroma has sweet malty tones and some cocoa. Also some vanilla. Feels like a bock. Flavour has artifical vanilla, some malty notes and harsh malt. A watery bock with vanilla extract added. Could not locate the porter here.

On tap @ Iron Horse Washington DC. Pours a near opaque brown with a thick creamy mocha head. Aromas are molasses and faint vanilla. Tastes are light cocoa and vanilla. Rich and creamy, full body, plenty of carbonation, short and mildly sweet vanilla finish. Very nice beer, reminds me of Mill Street Vanilla Porter. ---Rated via Beer Buddy

On tap @ Stout NYC. Marrone, riflessi ramati, schiuma beige fine persistente. aroma intenso, tostato, cacao amaro, cioccolato, vaniglia, caramello.

Bottle into stout glass. Looks like it should. Aroma mostly vanilla. Some mild chocolate notes. Taste strong vanilla on the front. Creamy mouthfeel. Some leathery notes. Soft finish. A bit one dimensional w the vanilla coming through perhaps a bit too much. Ok but not great unless you are a big vanilla fan. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

355ml bottle (Beertopia, Nebraska) - thanks Frank!
Deep red, brief beige head settles to patchy scum. Sweetish slightly chocolatey roasty aroma, some dark berry aspect. Fairly simple palate, a little watery, smooth from sweetness. Pleasant dryish roasty taste, cheap chocolate, some vanilla. Finish a little burnt. A bit dull, and very lifeless. Kinda adequate, but very simple.

I think this is an excellent porter. It has a taste of vanilla and chocolate with a hint of coffee, and it feels and taste good on the palate. This will not the first time I purchase this beverage, and it’s easy on the wallet too.

Tasted in Breckenridge (go figure). Tasted in shaker. About half an inch white head. Not pitch black, black-reddish tinge. Aroma of vanilla and coffee - roasted malt. Tastes of roasted malt with a finish of vanilla and a slightly sour after taste. Overall not bad however I was hoping for something bigger and bolder.
