COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Who would have thought deep in the jungles of Papua New Guinea and Madagascar grew the perfect ingredient to build an extraordinary Porter in Colorado? An ale that has all the chocolate and roasted nut flavor of a classic Porter, with an enigmatic surprise thrown in for good measure, real vanilla bean. Breckenridge Brewery’s Vanilla Porter. A vanilla kiss in a rich, dark sea.

Dark brown pour with a white head. The aroma has vanilla with mild chocolate. It has a medium body with somewhat sticky texture and average carbonation. The taste is semi-sweet with a roasted finish.

12 oz bottle poured into glass. Aroma was pretty much slight malty and vanilla. Poured a light brown with almost no head. Tasted very off to me. Not much vanilla and very watery. Had a metallic finish that I didn’t care for as well.

Roasty notes (vaguely chocolate) and vanilla in the aroma, but the in the taste the vanilla is stronger than the porter. Mouthfeel is thin. Solid session beer. Throw a scoop of vanilla ice cream in when you have about 4 oz left and enjoy an amazing porter float.

On tap at Park Tavern, Navy Yard DC. A dark brown, but clear appearance. Aroma of dark chocolate is most prevalent, but some coffee and vanilla. Taste is similar to aroma, but coffee fades by middle of the tasting. Finish is mildly bitter with all chocolate and vanilla. Palate, medium bodied. Overall, the vanilla sets this one apart from other porters.

Bottle from Winooski Beverage Warehouse. Aroma: roasted malt, vanilla, pure black chocolate . App: dark brown with red tint, minimal beige head. Taste and palate: creamy medium body, medium carbonation, light bitter finish. Overall: An ok porter. I enjoyed the vanilla and chocolate taste. I also enjoyed the creamy taste. Could be way more bitter and maybe more complex.

Poured a dark ruby/amber to brown colour with a thin white head. Aroma is of subtle notes of yeast, vanilla, and roasted malt. Taste is fairly sweet and smooth with elements of roasted, caramel, coffee, and herbal malt flavors with the titular vanilla quite present. Medium bodied malty beverage with light carbonation and little bitterness.

12 oz. bottle from Best Damn Beer Shop. Deep amber/red with minimal, tan colored head. Nose of yeast and faint vanilla. Taste is pretty much as you would expect in a porter except with a little bit of added vanilla. It’s malty, light and smooth with low carbonation. Little bitterness. Nothing earth shattering. I like it because of its low ABV.

Pours from a bottle with a dark red-hued color, a light khaki head. Aroma is a nondescript faint caramel. Taste is a nice, but a little overly subtle coffee vanilla combo. Mouthfeel starts off a nice round, full body, but thins out on the finish.
