COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Who would have thought deep in the jungles of Papua New Guinea and Madagascar grew the perfect ingredient to build an extraordinary Porter in Colorado? An ale that has all the chocolate and roasted nut flavor of a classic Porter, with an enigmatic surprise thrown in for good measure, real vanilla bean. Breckenridge Brewery’s Vanilla Porter. A vanilla kiss in a rich, dark sea.

Poured from a bottle into an English pint glass. Color is dark brown with a small tan head. Some lacing left on the glass. Immediate aroma is cocoa and coffee with some malty sweet notes. Dark, rich, coffee, and cocoa taste on the front that fades into a vanilla sweetness. Average carbonation that leaves a slight tingle after the taste is gone. Paired well with BBQ pork baby back ribs.

Bottle. Pours dark brown with a one-inch ivory head that dissipates to a thin film. Aromas of dark fruit, coffee and chocolate. Flavors are gypsum, coffee, and plum. Vanilla and licorice in the finish. Thin, watery mouthfeel. Not great, but not bad.

Bottle. I didn’t really care for this the first time I tried it. But I’d already bought six of em, so hey....ya gotta drink em, right? Gotta say I’m glad I went back for seconds! Thoroughly enjoyed the second one..and the third...etc. Vanilla, chocolate, nuts, with a nice balance of hops. Well made! Has a permanent spot in my fridge. Solid pour!

Beautiful cascade effect when this beer is poured. It has a cream color which for a pretty color gradient with the black color of the beer itself. Smooth with strong vanilla aroma and has a creamy mouth feel.

This was poured into a nonic pint glass. The appearance was a soft mostly dark brown color with no head nor lacing. The smell starts off with a light roasted coffee bean, vanilla slightly comes into balance with a light cocoa coming about. Light nuttiness does also enter in as it warms. The taste has a mellow roast to semi-sweet vanilla/cocoa that leads to a gentle dry and roasty coffee aftertaste and finish. On the palate, this one sat about a light to medium on the body with a fairly decent sessionability about it. Overall, as an American Porter it works. The added bonus, the vanilla and that helps to make this a subtle dessert on a late Spring evening.

From 12ounce bottle into a hefeweizen glass. Strong vanilla aromatics off the glass. First on the palate is the vanilla but fades fast into the roasted malt flavors of coffee with slight hints of chocolate to finish.

BlackHaddock (4840) - Shropshire, ENGLAND - MAY 26, 2015
Happy Hour, 25th May 2015: on-tap US pint in the Yard House, Irvine. Very dark beer in a very dark bar, think the head was a tanned affair. Nose is malty, as is the taste: once the beer begins to warm and settle in the glass it gives off subtle esters and flavours hidden by the coldness on serving. Chocolate notes with a vanilla ice cream smoothness ooze out of the beer, very pleasant Porter with enough going on to not need a heavy ABV level.

Bottle. Pours reddish brown with medium sized spongy beige head, vanilla mocha aroma, medium carbonation, roasted nut taste with vanilla flavor, abrupt finish with burnt aftertaste. Quite a smooth and enjoyable porter.
