A Golden Ale brewed with possibly the world's last 93/50 hops - strongly bitter and deeply refreshing

Gravity Cask @ Reading Beer Fesitval 07. Golden. A little pungent yeast and slightly herby hops. A little astringent bitterness. Quite nice on the whole but let down a bit by the yeasty nose and its a bit sticky ion the end.

Cask half-pint at NERAX on 5/3/07
Frothy white head is small, but provides messy lacing. Body is not completely bright and a very brassy-golden color.
Sulphur, though very faint, is detectable in the nose (as it was in their other beer this year, the Welsh Pale Ale). Very fruity, ripe yellow fruit esters, with hard water-like minerals and a creamy, wheat-like nuttiness. Some hop bitterness is noted, but surprisingly very little aroma. Maybe these are the last of this hop for a good reason? Don’t know, but the stuff, even discounting the sulphur, seemed very underwhelming, as did the Welsh Pale this year, the Golden Valley and Fan Dance last year. Not any significant character, and a weak strength of aroma at that.
Still a trace of sulphur in the flavor, with light saltiness and grainy malts. Some fruity, citrusy hops help bolster the overall flavor and some herbal tanginess is contributed from the hop as well, but the malts only show a pinch of sweet pale maltiness at best, and mostly range from nutty to grainy and are quite bland through and through. Other than the fruitiness and hop bitterness, I don’t find a single interesting character in this beer. Lots of hard mineral character as well. Medium-light to light-bodied, slight wateriness, but appropriate for style. No alcohol noted, no flaws but for the light sulphur. This hop taste like a mix of Northern Brewer, Tettnang and Amarillo. Interesting and very weird.

Cask gravity at Reading BF 2007. Copper/gold. Not much condition. Bit farty, bit minerally in mouth, bit of tangerine maybe. Some dryness on finish, slightly juicy in mouth.
