A spectacular stout originally brewed only once a year, but now available in bottles all year round - dark, smooth and with a lightly smoked character - eminently easy to drink!

Oakes (10184) - Gibsons, British Columbia, CANADA - MAR 21, 2011
Bottle. Pretty inky looking and a little bit flat. A little bit of liquorice and chocolate on the nose. Soft, slightly fruity and slightly liquoricey character. Only a tiny bit of roast bitterness late, overall fairly mellow.

Beershine (4712) - The Sunshine State, Florida, USA - MAR 9, 2011
Bottle from Bierhaus in Cork. Pitch black, opaque, looks nearly flat when poured, is a real ale, and the suds indicate there is healthy carbo. Smells of ink and coal. Good palate, medium body. Not a huge depth of flavor. Very dry with charcoal and mellow coffee. Decent but unexciting.

chriso (7065) - London, Greater London, ENGLAND - FEB 20, 2010
Bottled at the Rake, 31 July 2009. Very dark. Dry and chocolaty. There is a hint of smoke but it is very subtle. Lots of burnt malt. Decent balance. Mouthfeel is a touch light for a stout but, overall, pretty tasty and enjoyable.
