COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Cask, Occasional;
Brewed as an experiment and launched at the Great Welsh Beer and Cider Festival and the St Austell Celtic Beer Festival, 2006. The Beer was extremely well recieved at both events, being one of the fastest sellers. At 6.2% abv, this is lower in alcoholic strength than the traditional IPAs that were brewed to survive the trip around the Cape of Good Hope and then across the Indian subcontinent to then slake the thirst of the British Empire’s workers and soldiers. However, with its strong hoppy aroma and stunning flavours, this beer is a reminder of the way things were. Look out for future limited appearences...

Cask. A hazy yellow beer with a thin lazing beige head. The aroma has notes of malt and butter. The flavor is sweet malty with light notes of butter, leading to a lightly bitter finish.

(Cask at The Rake, Southwark, London, 27 Nov 2010) Copper colour with foamy, off-white head. Malty, fruity nose with dried fruit, apricots and toast. Malty, fruity taste with notes of dried fruit, orange, apricots, marmalade, sweet toasty malt and a mild bitterness. More than medium body with rounded mouthfeel, fairly sweet. Quite nice.

Cask conditioned at Brecon Beer Festival, Castle Hotel, Brecon, Powys. Clouded brown with no head. Seemed a bit green and unsettled to me, there was a powdery hoppy note, but the flavours were a little muddled. A big alchol kick on the finish. Disappointing really but nothing off in the flavour.
