(Can). Aroma and taste of sour hay, grainy malt and bitter alcohol. The aftertaste is all about alcohol. Really disgusting!

Can from Carrefour, Nice. Golden with no head and a very small carbonation. Strongish tasting but palatable, although there’s has no decent character here to get enthusiastic about. It’s lesser than bland.

1.7 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 1/5 OVERALL 6/20
One of those cheap strong lagers, basically ’pils’ with a lot more alcohol, usually sold in cans and marketed at alcoholics who care less about quality than about strength. Tasted some three years ago, when it was apparently still brewed by AB InBev (who took it from Oranjeboom in Breda) primarily for being sold in France, not sure if this is still the case. Stable, snow-white head and bright colour of ’old gold’. Aroma sweetly grainy (corn, even popcorn), grassy hops and cheap wodka-like, off-putting alcohol. Taste unfortunately is more of the same, very grainy, sticky sweetness even till the finish, where a lot of very badly hidden, astringent alcohol appears.

Euro trash malt liquor. Super sweet aroma and flavor, vomitus colubita aftertaste. Why go into detail as to how much this sucks? "Blech" says it all. Can in Paris, France.

Bue en canette de 50cl évidemment. Une vraie bière de clochard, bien dégueulasse et qui fait mal à la tête et au bide à l'instant même où on la boit.

500ml Can: BBD Sep 14, poured into a ’Fosters’ pint glass at home on 27th Nov 13. The penultimate beer (and 5th) of a Lager/Pilsner tasting session with myself.
Looked the usual supermarket Lager/Pilsner golden colour, a little darker than some, but still that clean, clear and bright sparkle they often have. The typical non-staying white head was also an attribute this can had.
The smell and taste were not too great to be honest: sweet, malty and ’tinny’, remember those Barley Sugar sweets from your childhood? Well give them a metallic twang and you’ve almost got the flavour of this beer.
Not a good beer at all, not even an average beer really, but I obtained it in the South of France because they had was such a poor choice of beers down there it had to be bought or I’d have brought home next to no beers at all.

2.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
Canned, 0.50l. Clear deep golden color with medium frothy white head and poor lacing. Aroma of mild caramel and biscuit malt, cereals, dark fruits and light alcohol notes. Taste starts with sweet and rich malt, then followed sweet dried fruity. Alcohol warmth appears and stays quite long in the mouth, finish is a bit spicy, while aftertaste is moderate bitter. Medium body, oily texture and average carbonation in palate. I don’t see it so bad as majority, maybe because I kinda like Polish strong pale lagers :)

Big can from Franprix. Only 83 euro cents. A favorite of the local bums. Served "tres frais" in Orval glass. Smells like 1664, etc. Amber. Much darker than expected. Tastes surprisingly inoffensive. Very smooth and thick. Only the slightest gross malt liquor aftertaste. Ahh, the joy of low expectations. It’s definitely better than the more expensive French equivalents - 1664, Kroenburg, etc. But I doubt I’ll ever buy it again.
