Brewed by Oranjeboom, Rotterdam (Netherlands) until the early 90’s. After the closing of Oranjeboom production was moved to Breda (Netherlands). This brewery was called Verenigde Bierbrouwerijen Breda-Rotterdam at that time and soon to be renamed to Oranjeboom Brouwerij. The Breda Royal brand however always still mentioned United Dutch Breweries (wich translates to Verenigde Brouwerijen). On closing of Oranjeboom Brouwerij, Breda in 2004 by InBev production was moved to both Bremen and Leuven. Until 2008 when Randalls acquired the licence. Some production is also done at Hofbrauhaus Wolters (under the name Getränkeindustrie Altewiek).

Pale yellow, weak nose and head. It is basically a poor macro beer. It’s drinkable at some level , but there are a million beers better. It’s one saving grace is that it’s pretty strong at 5%. I would call this a shandy beer. Grab a 7-Up and mix them for a sunny day...

Medium white head. Clear brassy body with light carbonation. Light honey and flour aroma. Dry-sweet mealy honey taste with oily notes. Mid-bodied. Mild mouthfeel. Dryish mealy grassy aftertaste with papery notes. At the very end, a touch of metal. Really the mealy honey flavour that drives this one. Not bad. (0.5l can, Wellcome, Lohas Park, Hong Kong.)

Bottle from Aldi. Pours really pale, with not much head. Smells reasonable, mit dry malt. Flat on the tongue, both in carbonated terms and flavour. Lilted paper, with some crenallation, but mainly dead fruit malt. Not a good lager.

500ml bottle at 4.7%. Pours gold with a medium head. Aroma is quite minerally. Taste is a bit soapy to start with a strong, mineral hop finish.
