Brekeriet White Label
Brekeriet Cassis is a sour ale mainly fermented with Brettanomyces yeast. Black currant is added during the secondary fermentation and this yeast loves berries which is shown in the fantastic taste of the beer. Brekeriet Cassis is refermented in the bottle which gives a thin layer of yeast at the bottom of the bottle.

On tap at Brekeriet Bar. At last... :) Red-pink with no head. Aroma is like tart home made black currant juice. Taste is tart and fresh with a lot of black currant. Dry mouth feel, light body and carbonation. Long and dry after taste.
Lived up to the high expectation but a little more carbonation wouldn’t hurt.

When I drink this beer, I think back to my childhood when my mom made black currant juice. Need I say more? Follow me @ Kung av öl @ Facebook for more pictures and ratings.

Sampled at GBWF 2013, from my huge backlog. Clear dark red with a pink porous head. Currants and sour cherries, dry, woody, a touch of sweat. Very nice!

Riktigt god.

Bottle. Pours clear red with a partly lasting and spotted lacing frothy small almost purple head. Aroma is black currants, elderberries and a hint of leathery brett. Taste very light sweet and light+ tangy. Body is light, texture is oily, carbonation is soft. Finishes short and very dry and balanced. Reminds me mostly of delicious homemade black currant juice.

Bottle, many thanks to Bruce. It pours deep, cloudy red-purple with a small white head. The nose is dark cherry, blackcurrant, jam, sweet candy and candyfloss. The taste is sharp lemon, Granny Smith apple, cherry, blackcurrant, touch of spice, sweat and wood with a dry finish. Medium body and fine, prickly carbonation. Nice sweet-sour balance. Good deal of sharp tartness, which I rather like. Tasty stuff.

Bottle, rated from backlog. Dark purple with pink head. Aroma and taste: BIG cassis, lightly sour, some metallic/mineral notes, nearly no malt or hop at all. Very drinkable

Bottle @ Bruce’s. Deep red pour with a small head. The nose is herbal spices, piss, berry fruits. The taste is very jammy. More herb, compost pile. Quite sweet. Light body, fine carbonation. Overall, solid.

Tasting at Bruce’s pad. Thanks Leighton. Opaque dark cherry red beer. Residual pink head. Squashed cherry and piss on the nose. This carries over to the taste - tart cherry and unmistakeable urea. Dry finish. Much too pissy! Bleh!
