Brekeriet Black Label
Brekeriet Saison is a Scanian saison receiving its special character by fermentation using a mixture of different yeast strains, particularly those of the genus Brettanomyces. The beer is carbonated naturally by fermentation in the bottle and therefore giving a thin layer of yeast on the bottom.

Not the best but a ok beer. Pours dark golden and has a sourey nose. Taste is also a bit sour but still within the balanced realm. I would drink this to Fish and Chips or some other rustiqe fish dish.

Bottle. Pours unclear orange in color with a small whitish head. Barnyard notes and fruity citrus with hints of summermeadow in aroma. Fruity notes in taste, some grapefruity bitterness and sourness is present. Some spicy and notes of lushy apple in aftertaste.

Draught at Pikkulintu. Amber color, white head. Bitter taste with hops, citrus, earthy notes and grass. Bitter finish with citrus, hops and grass. Decent saison, but a bit light on aromas.

Slighty hazy amber color, steady off-white head, good lacing. Bretta and minerals in the nose. Light- bodied. Quite fruity apple, orange etc. Yeast flavors, Bretta. Wild yeast Saison which has something from lambic world and something from saisons. Pretty simple but refreshing.

Orange beer with fluffy head and nice lacing. Aroma is sour with zesty green apples, vanilla and citrus. Taste is quite mild compared to aroma. It has citrus, some sour flavors and apples. High carbonation with medium body. Aroma offered a lot more than taste gave, sadly.

Pours yellow with a dense white head. Smell of brett, yeast, and a sprucy citrusy herby input, not quite belgian yeast but reminding of it. Taste is a lot better than aroma, actually super good, first of all itís super balanced, and has a great mouthfeel, perfect amount of dryness, maybe just a tiny bit too sweet, a bit of herby input with some bubblegum, and a barnyard feel, reminds me a bit of Dupont Avec les Bons Voeux, but itís 6.5% and a probably the best saison iíve had at 6.5%.

Keg (Pikkulintu, Helsinki)
Spicy aroma, christmas spices, clove, orange or persimmon. Pale orange, small tight head. Sweetish palate, quite high carbonation. Donít think swirling would help this, it would just become flat and sticky. Taste not far from the aroma, yeastier, harsher, and the spices a little more subdued. After a swirl it didnít bcome too sticky, fortunately. Still, a sub-par saison.

Bottle. Unclear golden body, small white head. Aroma is spicy, clove and coriander, witbierstyle, with traces of barnyard. Taste of funky yeast, ripe apples, anise, a bit sweet. Finishes with a funky lemon and spicy aftertaste. Not bad.

Bottle at Jerntorgets Brygghus, Goteborg, 21/03/14. Hazed orange amber with a big old off white head of bubbledom. Nose is bitter orange, apricot, straw, spice, lemon rind, earthy twang, apple skin. Taste comprises mandarin, orange marmalade, straw, pinch of spice, apricot, jammy tropicana. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close with a grassy linger. Crisp and refreshing saison, solid stuff.

(Bottle, 0.33 l - batch nr 27 - BB 2015-11-22, at Pikkulintu, 20140326) The beer poured deep amber and clear. Its head was white, large and it lasted long. Aroma had spices, fruitiness, sourness, berries and malts. Palate was medium bodied with medium carbonation. Flavours were fruitiness, berries, sweetness, sourness, spices, malts and bitterness. Aftertaste had sweetness, berries and bitterness. The berriness was unpleasant and perhaps the yeast should have had more time to eat the sugars.
