(Can 33 cl) Clear, golden with a small, creamy, off-white head. Aroma of malt and a little flowers. Medium body, sweet notes of malt and brewing cereal with a whiff of flowers. Very subdued bitterness. 310108

This is clearly a cheap beer, and, as far as cheap beer goes, not too bad-but-as any beer drinker worth his salt will agree with me on this one point-this beer could be transformed by the addition of more HOPS! any kind would do! from Hallertau to Fuggles! I dont care! its just lacking that little bit of bite that gives a little bit of aroma , some form of aftertaste is better than NONE! even floor sweepings off the damn hop drying factory floor!
2.8 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 10/20 Ardi (17) - NEW ZEALAND - MAY 22, 2010
An easy to drink light pale ale. Good head on pour, but disappears quickly.
Clean and crisp, lacks any unique taste, however not unpleasant on the palate. Little nose, aroma is limited. I rather like this 5% beer, not only because of price ($20 for 2 x 12 pack cans @ The Mill, CHCH on special), but more importantly I have never had a bad head the next day after drinking this brew.
They claim the 4% beer is brewed under the ’German Beer Purity Law’ , water, barley and hops, I tend to believe this is true. As a keen beer consumer I have never had a hangover from this brew after drinking copious amounts in a sitting.
1.2 AROMA 2/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 2/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 2/20 crabbey (16) - NEW ZEALAND - APR 25, 2010
Aroma: Metallic, caramel, cardboard.
Appearance is pretty good though, pale golden with good lasting white head.
Sour with slight sweetness.
Medium body, moderate carbonation. Quite repulsive finish.
Good to look at, but truly undrinkable.
330mL can

NZ has a lot of cheap beers that are very drinkable, Brenner is not one of them. A friend once described the taste as being of ’sandy mussels’, although we may have been drinking a dud batch. Steer clear!

Tasted 31/01/2008. Kiwi pale lager that’s even more mettalic than Mac’s Gold. Clean and uninteresting.
