Bottle at The White Hart Inn, Margaretting Tye, 25/04/13. Dark Ale. Orange isn’t too strong. Nice, rich, very choccy malt. Full-Mid body. Nice, tangy hop, mixes well with orange. Bit fruity alcohol. Nice, light bitter, orange oil finish lingering, with choccy stickyness on tongue. Nice.

50 cl bottle @ lusikka, BBE 11/2013
Aroma has caramel, cocoa, some spices, chocolate and malty notes. Flavour has grassy hops, caramel, cocoa and chocolate. Spicy and hoppy finish with coffee. Hard to find the orange here, perhaps it is in the background. A solid old ale.

500 ml bottle.
Pours a brown colour with a small white head. Aroma of roasted malts, chocolate muffins, perfume and sweet juice. Flavour of roasted malts, chocolate, licorice, nutmeg, almonds and grassy bitterness. Medium bodied, oily mouthfeel and a bready, malty, salty finish. Good stuff.

Pours dark ruby red color with a small head. Aroma of milky chocolate, some dark fruits, caramel malts and toffee. Flavor of roasty malts, vanilla, some chocolate, toffee, nuts, and some wooden notes. Slick and almost creamy palate. Very nice.

Hand pulled cask, shared half at NWAF. Patchy surface to a coal dark body. Smell of chocolate malt and herbal hops. Chocolate taste supplied by oats with a spicy touch to it. Malt-fruity ending, not overly sweet. Medium bodied. Tasty (Manchester, 25.01.2013).

Gravity Dispense at Merchants Inn Beer Festival, Rugby - 31/10/12. Mid black with a thin tan head that soon clears to zero. Big roast malt nose, chocolate, mineral tones and some hops. Tastes of roast malts, a little fruit, chocolate and hops. Medium bodied with soft carbonation, smooth and finishes fairly dry.

Cask at the Kelham Island tavern. Black pour with very little life. Rich fruity aroma with citrus notes. Lots of fruit and liqourice in the flavour. A very rich and satisfying ale. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

500ml bottle. Deep brown with a perfect amount of head. Aroma is laden with fresh cream and chocolate malt. More chocolately goodness on the tongue, but those oranges are a bit elusive. They pop up from time to time and make for a pleasant accompaniment, but too often they’re a marginal presence or hidden away altogether. The beer itself is nicely creamy, gentle on the roast and pleasant from start to finish, but doesn’t offer too much excitement. Happy to try this one though.

A nice take on the chocolate christmas orange. Orange and chocolate aromas, with a sweet flavour. Dark and creamy. Good.
