Cask (Kitty’s, Helsinki)
Lovely rich roasy aroma. Classic English stout. Slight touch of cocoa but not dominant. sniffing deeply, some very nice heavy, fruity esters. Black, small loose head. Initially smooth palate, gentle carbonation, but dryness of earthy bitterness interrupts this as you swallow. Nice roasty taste. The name makes me think of chocolate, but it’s not an OTT, fake chocolatiness. Finish is dry and bitter. Dry, old hops. Late finish lasts a long time.
