UPDATED: FEB 17, 2011 Hand pulled at the Wetherspoons under the Central Library, Birmingham. Rich biscuit flavour, with some nutmeg, cinnamon and ginger. Dry flavour after the sweet, malty mouthful. Feels quite heavy, especially on the point of swallow. Typical ESB probably.

Cask @ Society Room, JDW. Wow, this is good stuff. Amber colour, dense off-white head. Aroma is light toasted malts and a hint of coffee, some fruits. Flavour is light roasted malts, coffee and fruits. Fairly dry and bitter. Long roasty and a slight smoky/ashy finish. Really pleasant.

Cask at the Coronet. Pours a rich amber with a soft, creamy white head. Aroma holds bread, sugar earth and ripe fruits. Nice and sweet with some caramelized sugar, toast, and leafy and herbal bitterness. Light to medium in body with fine carbonation. Has some nice, herbal hops on the finish with lots of sugary malts. A nice beer in good condition.

Cask conditioned at a Wetherspoons. Dark brown with off white head. Dark, roasty, malty and smooth, there is a fullness of flavour to this with a nutty background and a hint of vanilla to the fore. There is a reasonable hop note for bitterness. A well put together beer nicely done.

Cask condition JDW County Hotel Ashford. Very deep chestnut colour with lasting thick cream head. Very decent earthy woody malty ESB. It has a strange woody herbiness that has rosemary bark to it. Tough to figure out. Some syrupyness full malt fruit. Some dryness on finish. I would happily have another
