Bottle. Pours a dark amber to brown with clean white head. Aroma is malty biscuit and a little varnished wood. Light and slightly fizzy on the palate. Quite a musty bitterness with a hint of caramel becomming a dry fizzy finish which makes the tongue tingle.

Cask, Criterion, Leicester. Copper, red with a cream foam. Aromas are Weetabix and chocolate malts with mellow berries and grapefruit. Lightly floral with yeast and alcohol. Flavours are vinous fruits with dark chocolate and sweet toffee. Earthy and bitter grapefruit hops on the finish with warming alcohol.

Cask conditioned, gravity dispensed at Harbury beer Fest ’10. Copper with white head. A little on the sweetish side, this is initially a malty beer with a peek of alcohol, which then gives way to a drying, peppery hop. Reasonable bitterness in the close. Good.

13th July 2010. Chelmsford Beer Festival. Clear brown beer. Suddy white head. Light palate. Semi dry and a little crisp. Sweet orange battles against some slightly smoky malt. An interesting contrast! Finishes dry with some nice tangy fruit. Decent!

Cask at Wellington Arms, Bedford. According to the pumpclip it’s ’for the man who can handle his chopper’. Amber. Fruity aroma with some background malt. Sweet, slightly cardboardy malt taste. Mid bitter finish. Pretty good.
