Cask (handpump) at Pigs Ear Beer Festival, 2 December 2009 as Marvellous Maple Mild. Attractive clear dark red brown colour. Excellent condition. Very light roast flavour. Clean mouthfeel. A little more hops presence than than the norm for a mild. Lightly nutty although I can’t really say I picked up the maple. Good drinker.

UPDATED: JAN 29, 2010 A descent session mild probably the best of our tastings. A nice creamy mild with a good aount of hops. Could do with a little more IBU I think. However an enjoyable session. Good malt character and an enjoyable session ale. Need to consume again. Consumed with Ang; Hackney Spoons Festival.
Edit - 29th January 2010 - Tap at the Fleece, Chelmsford
Consumed again on tap in Chelmsford last night with a cleaner pallet. Very caramel textured thick lumps of caramel and honey penetrate the throat. A good session ale but not too remarkable. A good commercial effort .

Cask Conditioned handpump Crosse Keys London. A hazy chestnut coloured beer with an off-white head and lacing. A sweetish nose with a bit of caramel. Sweetish again in the mouth with a nutty note. No obvious maple syrup but there is a bit of fruity hop. Not bad.

A Mes rate. Cask handpull from the Evening Star. Mid brown colour and struggling to hold onto a thin off white head. A rather standard mild. Fruitier than you would expect. Slight bacon, good chocolate and delicate roast character.

(Cask at Southampton Arms, Kentish Town, London, 19 May 2011) Dark nut brown colour with frothy, beige head. Malty, nutty nose with caramel, chocolate and dark bread. Malty taste with notes of caramel, nuts, raisins, prunes and hints of maple syrup shining through. Slightly toasty with a certain sweetness. Rather light body. Quite nice.

Cask at the Hobgoblin, Reading. A rather pleasant mild, with a rich reddish brown colour and a tan head; the aroma has nutty roasted malts, and the flavour is the same with perhaps a touch of maple; the finish is lightly bitter with a residual sweetness - perhaps the maple syrup?
