Cask gravity at Pigs Ear BF 07. Very deep chestnut. Lasting thin beige head. Rather a nice mild, bit of candy sugar, but inoffensive. A little hop sting on finish.

A Sim rate (cask at Pig’s Ear BF): Brandy and plum aroma with a porter-like tinge. Quite subtle, bitter chocolate flavour. Thin mouthfeel, but ok overall.

Cask at Pig’s Ear BF. Rather bland beer, not interesting in any way. I’m afraid the cinnamon is not adding much to it, either.

Cask (handpump) at Pigs Ear Beer Festival 2007. Some confusion over the name here - Porcus Auricula in the programme but Porcus Auriolus on the clip. Nothing on the brewery website to indicate which is correct. Wouldn’t mind betting that this is actually the same beer as Cinnamon Mild mentioned on the brewery website as a 2007 Christmas beer (although listed at 3.6%) as the pump clip said this is flavoured with cinnamon. There was a slightly spicy character but I wouldn’t have identified cinnamon, so the spicing is probably relatively restrained, at least compared to some other beers on offer at Pigs Ear. Reddish brown colour with a thin collar of foam. Rather dry malt character with subtle sharp touches on the finish. A solid, if unspectacular, mild. But then you can’t really expect spectacular in a mild.

Cask conditioned - handpump - Pigs Ear BF. A chestnut brown coloured beer with an off-white ring of bubbles. The aroma is bready and toasty with caramel notes. The taste has sweet malty notes and more toast. A little thin, but then I hadn’t realised its low ABV. Deceny enough.
