Cask gravity at Colchester BF 2011. First dark beer of the day. Deep ruby clear with lasting beige head. Fruit on the aroma. The flavour is both amazing and unusual. Some date some sour dark cherry. Some chewy dark malts. Some dryness on the finish. More an old ale than a porter for me. That sour dark fruit edge is very interesting. Tasty. I have to admit that I like it. Touch of raw grainy choc. Definitely interesting

Cask at The Harp, Covent Garden. Pours very dark brown/blackish. Virtually no head,, but then again; it is a cask ale, so no deduction in the score on that part. The aroma is chocolaty with a distinctive hoppy note. On the palate these characteristics are joined by coffee and dried fruit. Pretty bitter finish. Not very complex but extremely harmonius and very well made. And extremely well taken care of and presented by the team at The Harp - one of the best cask ales I’ve had in a very long time.

Cask,Dark Ale Days 2010 - Edwardstone White Horse.Black with small head,hops and light choc aroma,fruity with cherry and orange,hoppy and very dry with oak.
