Cask (gravity dispense), Pigs Ear Beer Festival 2007. An uncompliacted amber session bitter with a smattering of earthy hops, some underlying biscuity malt and a hint of bitterness. Dry mouthfeel. Perfectly respectable but struggled to impose itself amongst a slew of Christmas beers. Not sure whether this is a one-off or a more frequent beer. Whichever it is, I think this was its first outing.

Cask Conditioned Handpump Coach & Horses Wellingborough. A hazy copper coloured beer with a white head. The aroma has some fruity berry notes. Light fruit in the mouth but the merest hint of acidity also suggesting going over.

(Cask at Pembury Tavern, Hackney, London, 16 Apr 2009) Amber colour with foamy, off-white head. Malty, nutty nose with butterscotch and sulphur. Malty, nutty taste with notes of toffee, butter, diacetyl and a dry bitterness in the finish. Light body. Not very nice at all.
2.5 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20 hughie (3992) - Bedford, Bedfordshire, ENGLAND - APR 11, 2009
Cask, gravity, at 2nd Wellington BF, Wellington Arms, Bedford. Reddish amber. Earthy malt aroma and taste. Mid bitter finish. Frankly this is rather grim. As someone who remembers Mr Rogers well from his days as a TV star, I feel he deserves better.

A Mes rate: Gravicask at Pigs Ear. Pale gold / amber coloured. Tea like malty notes with slight hoppy citrus and lots of wheat. Nice dryness but generally pretty dull.

Gravity at the Pig’s Ear Beer Festival 2007. The first review sums this beer up perfectly. A competent brew achieving a decent balance between malt and bitterness, yet not hitting the heights. Fine for a session beer but got a bit lost amongst the Christmas specials.
