3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 13/20 Metalchopz (1427) - Quebec, CANADA - AUG 2, 2011
Originally rated January 2007. Because someone else got a volcanic experience with this brew, I decided not to turn the bottle over to mix the sediments at the bottom of it. The brew was then clean at first, with an orange-caramel colour and lots of carbonation. Feeeew, no eruption here ! The head was big, creamy, off-white, had decent retention, but hardly any lace. The nose is quite sweet and fruity, with white grapes and apples. Thin-bodied with no burn at all... where is the alcohol ? Some spices come out in the taste, but yet still very smooth. The fruits are also present, apples with some light pear. Ingredients listed on the label are spring water, barley malt, coriander, organic cane sugar, high-fermented yeast and hops. When pouring the last drops from the bottle, the brew becomes way cloudy. Holds its name true, as this is probably the best brew from Breughel brewery.

Lovely copper colour with a medium carbonation. Good frothy white head. Fruity aroma yet quite tart. Sour flavour of vinegar. Quite a sour ale. Not disgusting but not really pleasant either.

500 mL bottle from Jovi in Gatineau. Hazy, rusty orange with a medium white head that quicky recedes to a thick film. Smells wheaty, with some citrus - sort of a dry wit kinda thing. And it is really dry. Not a lot going on, flavour-wise. Just a semi-sour wit. Booze is incredibly well-hidden, though. For what that’s worth.
2.1 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 1/5 OVERALL 9/20 Vertical Bacon Strips (1698) - Asshat, Alberta, CANADA - DEC 19, 2009
Icky, murky, blech brown - very unattractive beer, very fizzy off white still fizzin’ head. This thing absolutely exploded like champange and my queer drinking buddy Brad sucked off the bottle - how odd that I gave him more liquor after this... Sour! Sour aroma big time - crab apples, yeast, flowers (sort of), cane sugar, sour cherry, sour and fruity... maybe a touch of alcohol and the weakest earthiness. The taste, surprise, is also sour with a very strong alcohol taste - strong like hair spray. Very sour. Apples, yeast, weak spice. Needs work and depth. Hard and drying mouth feel. Finishes with a weak alcohol residue that gets steamrolled by the sourness.
2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20 Cirrhosis (931) - Edmonton, Alberta, CANADA - SEP 3, 2009
So very foamy, so much explosive power, I had to give the bottle head for 5 min before it stopped bursting its foamy white goodness into my mouth. Cloudy yellow brown body with a massive fluffy white cap on top. Sweet sour yeast aroma lots of tangy sour apple and hints of bread. Taste is all granny smith apple with bread, so very sour. Can’t taste any of the 11% this could get dangerous. So much sour apple brew seems to simple there must be more to it. So very dry. Yeast, bread, and apple not that complex to bad was hopping for better.

we got a gusher!!!!! cloudy brown pour with a white head. aroma of sour fruit, and sour yeast. Flavor is more sour. Now the malt comes through, bready, and have i mentionned sour?! Sour bread, and fruit is a perfect description of this beer. Oh an the carbonation is so over the top that i can barely swallow the beer. Its like sticking a tab of alka seltzer in your mouth. awful.

2 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 7/20 shintriad (700) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - MAY 25, 2008
Might’ve had an infected beer, but it was pretty nasty. Typical Trappist yeasts in the nose but the flavour was very dry, minerally, chalky, sweaty with some nasty raw yeast notes. Kind of sour.

2.2 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 8/20 Boutip (3458) - Gatineau, Quebec, CANADA - APR 11, 2008
Bottle: Poured a clear copper color ale with an off-white head with good retention and minimal lacing. Aroma consists of nice peachy fruity ester with light alcoholic phenols. Taste is a mix between some quite enjoyable fruity ester and some medium sweet malt. Body is a bit thin with some average carbonation and light alcoholic notes thought I have a hard time believing this beer to be 11% ABV. By no mean is this a great beer or something that I will buy again but by far not the worst from this brewery.
