COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Red Tale is an Irish style red ale. It’s a well balanced ale which is moderately hopped. Red Tale is the brewer, Allan Shaw’s favourite style of beer and is proving to be extremely popular. Conditioned and served on “multi-mix” gas (70% nitrogen and 30% carbon dioxide), Red Tale is a smooth and creamy beer. Red Tale takes it’s name from the Red-Tail Cockatoo’s found locally.

Tasting from early 2008. Tried this on draught at the brewery, then a few too many later on that afternoon out the bottle at home. Can’t fault it for presentation; precision, sexy, alluring, artful. Deep set fiery copper with a little chestnut coming through. Shimmers in the light, emits a radiance that dances, and as translucent as polished crystal. A lot of very, very fine carbonation eddies its way up to an inch thick, tight, creamy off-white crown that holds its place to leave a nice web of lace. Gingersnap biscuits, salted peanuts, powdery cocoa, nutmeg and varnished timber, a little rust and ashen wood on the nose, very interesting. Equally complex mix of burnt and charred caramel and demerara up front, smoke, wood, and rough darker malts, tree-bark and mildly astringent, husky grains throughout the rest into the malty and full, mildly bitter, chocolaty and woody swallow. A little cola and peanut cookies linger. I loved this flavour combo and couldn’t understand why. It just works. The body is lighter than the flavour suggests, the mouthfeel soft and comfortable. Goes down a treat just off cool. Very nice stuff. (50cL, Brew-42, Collie)

Bottle courtesy of BlueVegie, Aromas of raw malt, and cardboard. Taste is of underattenuated, brew full of crystal or melanoidin malts. Not that nice.

Straight from the tap at Brew 42 in Collie. This was a good session beer for me, nice red body with creamy head and drank very much like a Kilkenny only very fresh.
