COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Ambush Ale, as it name suggests, surprises the palate with a rush of flavour achieved by adding authentic east Kent Golding Hops during fermentation. Ambush Ale is served through creamer taps to render an ultra-smooth and creamy finish.

Bright amber colour. Toasty malts in the aroma with a hint of earthy hops. It’s a light but balanced amber ale...nothing really IPA about it and nothing distinctive either.

1L swingtop bottle poured slightly hazy light amber color with moderate off-white head. Aromas of fresh hops and some caramel. Taste is unique for an IPA with some earthy and malt sweetness that does not show up in most IPA’s. The finish is a pleasing bitterness that is not over the top. Overall, a milder IPA with enough flavor to tantalize the tastebuds.

Mason jar of this on tap at Amsterdam Rhino pub in Calgary, AB on 07/02/2011. Colour: Dark orange with little to no head. Nose: Common to Brew Bros beers, a strong grain presence - grass too. A smattering of dishwater, some mild baked apple. Taste: Medium-light sweet, medium-light bitter, light sour. Citrus hops come on strong then mellow cake in the middle. Finish turns nutty. Neat stuff.

Bottle is most likely 2 years old. A dark amber IPA with a thick collapsing moka head. Aroma is quite interesting, veering on barley wine territory, with fine maderization, some hops remnants, quite nice. In mouth, this is a rather sweet interpretation of the style, with honey, light lactic points, some corn syrup. Based on other ratings, I read that this one was sweet to start with.....cant remember if igot this in a trade (from Kris or Trev) or when i was in AB last time.

From a bottle. Very little head/carbonation. A little sweeter tasting than the typical IPA - not your typical cascadian bitter taste (which I prefer).

***review from Dec 24, 2007***
Amber brew with a good ammount of unfilteredness, produced a huge off-white to tan head that has simmered to a skim and leaves some thin, messy lacing. Lacks in aroma but what is there is nice and mild for once. Floral hops with a touch of citrus, light biscuity and lighter caramel malts. A bit weak but from time to time it’s a good change of pace from the hop bombs and the aroma here is decent enough. The taste is better now that it’s warmer as the hops and their stiffness and weak pinyness comes out swinging. Zero grapefruit or other strong related citrus fruits that are so common. Some malt backbone...actually more than just some. Mouthfeel is thinner than I’m used to. Breathing in some harshness (good!). Finishes with a so-so bitter taste...but it’s got legs. A good change up from a hop pounding. I’ll get this again me thinks.

Pours a light amber colour... pretty good hop character, with a bit of sweetness from hops. Kind of different flavour than you’de expect from an IPA but good in it’s own right.

Light amber color. How many boring Amber Ales did I have tonight? This one has a light cocoa powder flavor and a lightly round body, but still quite boring after the first half pint.

[826-20071105] Tap @ Amsterdam Rhino (Calgary, AB). Grainy hay malt aroma has a bit of sweet caramel. Clear, amber orange body with a medium-lasting foamy off-white head. Grainy sweet yeast flavour is thick with toffee and caramel notes. Medium body. Nice but a little grainy.

Rich golden color, very carbonated, not much head. The flavor was pretty bitter, but in a good way. It is an IPA after all.

Draft @ Amsterdam Rhino in Calgary. Orange amber body with a small off white head. Light bitterness, with some tangy citrus is a bit odd. Underlying malt has brief glimpses of caramel. Very yeasty character. Tangy orangey aroma over muted malt. Average palate. 6/3/6/3/13
