dark loamy brown with frothy tan head. Cocoa and toast. Robust and rich, earthy roast barley, coffee and toast. Superb, reaffirms my love of porters.

On tap at In de Wildeman. Black colour, beige head. Aroma of hard-roasted malts, burnt black liquorice, almost ashy, some toffee, bitter chocolate, coffee, it’s all about the roast here. Flavour is lots of roast, burnt malts, burnt liquorice, light fruity, toffee, coffee, chocolate, hoppy and malty bitter finish. Medium bodied. Very good.

Bottle. Black with a small head.Lovely creamy flavour with a trace of coffee and chocolate. The flavours are subtle but still very impressive. Pleasant, refreshing and easy to drink. Even by this brewers standards which are pretty high this one is a winner. My best so far this year.

(Draught at the brewery, 12 Apr 2014) Black colour with lasting, creamy, beige head. Malty, roasted nose with coffee, chocolate, cacao and toasty malt. Malty, roasted taste with notes of chocolate, coffee, cacao, a touch of vanilla and a generous coffee bitterness in the finish. Medium body, with a touch of milky sweetness. Well made and very tasty, exceptionally well balanced. My first from this brewery, but hopefully not the last. Lovely porter.

Vestergaard (1576) - Aarhus C, DENMARK - JAN 10, 2016
On Tap at Fermentoren Aarhus. Pours a very dark, reddish brown with a nice, creamy, tan head. Aroma has lots of coffee, dark roasted malts, chocolate malts, slight vanilla, almost some lactose like sweetness. This smells incredibly good for it’s style and abv! Taste is just super clean coffee and chocolate up front, a slight licorice sweetness. Fairly high roasty bitterness, just barely on the good side of being ashy. Medium sweet, great balance, great beer! Average carbonation and a smooth, medium full body.
