Half at the brewery shared with the thepeter at Thomas’s b’day drink. Opaque very dark brown, off white foam head. Another classic and brilliant porter from Brew by Numbers. Nose is chocolate, black coffee, caramel, roasted malt. Taste is the perfect balance of flavours, not the coffee and roasted malt bombs that are popular right now. Luscious chocolate, moderate coffee and roasted malt, caramel, some dark ruby fruit notes.

At a tasting, many thanks, almost no head, quite opaque dark brown color, aroma of roasted coffee and chocolate cake, flavor of coffee with sweetish malt, green peppers and metallic notes with a quite strong herbal bitterness, light pleasant sweetness. Good and highly enjoyable.

Tap @ In De Wildeman, sample size glass. Almost black color. Beige head, short retention. Aroma’s: roast, ground coffee, mocha. Retronasal also some fruity sourness (as often with coffee infused beers). Flavor is roasted, moderate bitter, light sweet, bitter chocolate. Light bodied (not thin). Finishes roasted, moderate bitter.

Bottle sample at a tasting at avrashi’s place. Thanks Tom L. Deep brown with no head. Aroma of jojoba, roasted malt and some fruitiness. Sweetish flavor with notes of roasted malt, coffee, jojoba and herbs, light sourness, some alcohol warmth and nice lingering bitterness. Soft carbonation, medium to full-bodied.

Bottle 75cl. It pours near black with medium tan head. The nose is earthy, roasty, treacle, dark chocolate, rocky road and nuts. The taste is rich, roasty, toast, earth, dark chocolate, decent bitterness, coffee, mild acidity and peppery with a dry, roasty finish. Medium+ body and fine carbonation. Rich and flavoursome. Very nice. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Keg at foleys, Leeds. Black with a small off white head. Aroma is farmy and reminds me of mocha coffee from a machine (in a good way...........I think). Taste is sharp and clear: smoky bitterness and sweetish tartness. Medium/thin body with slight prickly carbonation. Good.

Bottled, 330ml from Cotteridge Wines, Birmingham. Black with cream head. Full and smooth porter, there are rich, darkly roasted malts to the fore, roasted coffee hints with a light bitterness. Liquorice flavours play a part in addition. Deep and very pleasant flavours. Good stuff.

1.8.2014. Aroma is very pleasant with coffee beans and liquorice, also some sweetness. Taste is quite roasted with coffee and nice aftertaste of cacao and coffee beans. Quite soft, not burnt. Very nice porter, unfortunately aroma promises even more.
