Mahagony brown color that looks like liquid rubies when held up to the light. Weak malt-sour nose. Initial taste is sour that transitions into sweetness. This beer tastes okay, but seems like it ought to be labeled a Flemish ale instead of a Dunkel Bock. If the Duchesse de Bourgogne had a hot-looking sister but she was boring to talk to, this would be it.

10 ounce sample on tap at the brewpub. Why isn’t this listed as a doppelbock? Aroma is a bit sweet with some definite leather aromas with some mint and metallic lager notes present, too. A nice aroma. Moderately transparent mahogany body with a medium tan head and nice lacing. Roasty, leathery, vinous maltiness present earlier on. Rich, creamy, metallic flavors present themselves later. Even some coffee is detected, as well. Smooth and drinkable. Good stuff here.

This dark brown beer pours with a very short tan head, eliciting a malty aroma. This is a nicely made dark bock, with a satisfying taste that sticks to the palate.

Brownish beer with an off-white/beige head. Roasty malt aroma with some cocoa. Very sweet malt big with caramel/toffee flavors. Smooth and easy to drink. Some raisin flavors.
