Thanks to DYCSoccer17 for sharing this rare bottle at the RBSG 08 Grand Tasting. Pours a dark orangish red into my La Chouffe goblet. Head is wet and white, leaving sticky lacing everywhere. Aroma is subtle fresh cherry juice with a touch of vanilla. Flavor is wheaty banana ester with a subdued cherry note. This beer could have benefited from more cherry flavor, but it’s still a perfectly acceptable witbier. Nice medium body and carbonation. Easy to drink.

~RBSG ’08~

Bottle at Grand Tasting. Pours a cloudy pinkish caramel color, white head and thick well-carbonated lacing. Cherry is subtle in the nose but effective. Some wheat and what could be banana is in there as well. Nice tart start to the flavor, with cherries and some oak and sweet citrus in the finish. Dry body, thin, easy to drink, not bad, feels a bit subdued on the cherries overall.

Bottle sampled at RBSG ’08. Pours wtih a cloudy, peach body topped by a thin head with little lacing. It’s sweet with notes of cherry and a slight tartness as well as a slight yeastiness. Light bodied and dry.

750 ml. bottle from the brewpub. Had this in a snifter at wine frig temperature. Slightly sweet aroma with tart cherry and some oakiness. The color is hazy, and amber like overripe peach flesh. The head was white, but didn’t stay long. Almost medium bodied, with a coarse, but creamy carbonation. The flavor is tart, nearly astringent. It’s wheat, slightly sour cherry and wood. More geuze than sweet fruit lambic. Nothing so sour as a flemish ale though. Good stuff. Not the holy grail of ale, but interesting good stuff. Tart and refreshing. The wood tends to persist in the mouth.
