Ughsmash (2835), Waukesha, Wisconsin, USA Jun 25, 2008 On tap at the Brew Kettle as “Ringneck Dry Irish Stout” at 5.5%.. I’m guessing that the rating belongs here. Poured clear, medium reddish-brown with a tall, thick cap of beige head. The aroma picked up toasty, very dry chocolate first and foremost with lighter coffee grounds and earthy notes behind.. came off very well. The flavor found sweeter cocoa and darker chocolates paired with light coffee and earthy bitterness again on the edges.. light sour, oaken impression on the back.. well-balanced and nicely roasty. Dry and light-medium bodied on the palate with a fine flow to it.. great final impression of cocoa bitterness. jmikolich (334), Athens, Ohio, USA Mar 26, 2008 on Tap @ brew Kettle, body was dark with off white nearing tan head, taste was smooth and roasty, easy drinking light mouthfeel..dry finish.. no surprise not too shabby at all. Cornfield (4254), Oak Lawn, Illinois, USA Mar 27, 2007 I had this outside at night, so the body looked black to me. The head, when head to a light, was a deep tan. Strong coffee notes are in the nose accompanied by bittersweet chocolate and roasted barley. The flavor’s fairly sweet even with all of its roasty qualities, the chocolate adding a balancing bitterness. II almost suspected bitter malts!) There’s a slight surge of sweetness before the finish when a roasted dryness takes over.

frankenkitty (1789), Oak Lawn, Illinois, USA Mar 26, 2007 Pours a deep garnet/black holding a creamy, khaki head. Aroma of bitter coffee and bittersweet chocolate, a little sweet but, yes... coffee roasts tend to dominate. A bittersweet chocolate flavor is carried by a creamy mouth to a dry finish. Sweet caramel and milk chocolate notes come out before mild bitterness in the finish.
<font size=-4>22 oz. bomber from <a href=http://www.ratebeer.com/Place/ohio/strongsville/the-brew-kettle/695.htm>The Brew Kettle Strongsville, OH 44136</font>
kujo9 (1043), North Ridgeville, Ohio, USA Dec 28, 2004 22 oz bomber from Brew Kettle: Lasting light beige head on an mohogany brown body. A little light IMHO for an dry stout? A light diacetyl & chocolate are the first aromas that grab my attention with diacetyl being lighter than chocolate. Some vanilla notes with caramel. Very, very, very, light roastiness in the aroma. Seems like a chocolate & brown sugary combination as it warms. Balance of flavor is definitely to bitter, but from hops, not grains at all. Very chocolate in the flavor with hints of roast. Herbal hoppy finish & long aftertaste make this a little too bitter for my liking. Also hints of diacetyl & vanilla in the flavor. Very thin, almost watery m/f. Dry/astringent and higher carbonation for stout style. Not horribly bad, but I wouldn’t want another after drinking this one right at the moment.
