A malty ale with a tawny brown colour. The beer shows a fruity character - this comes from the specially selected Ale yeast which enhances the flavours from the chocolate and crystal malts. Bronze medal winner in the Dark Beer Styles category at BrewNZ 2003!

An enjoyable brew that is missing the complexity of some competitor beers. This is balanced against a lower then usual alcohol content though.

Draft at the source. Hazy amber brown color, tan head. Aroma of brownie. Taste is similar.

A beer I enjoyed in a sample palette at the brewery in New Zealand. It was alright, probably least favorite out of the group. I could taste the chocolate, but not a beer for me. Worth a try however if you like Brown Ale.

I lve a brown ale, nutty autumnal pints of russet coloured goodness. This is toward the brown side of golden with a pillowy creamy coloured head. The aromas lean toward powdered chocolate and baking with shaved almonds and walnuts. Initially a cloud of carbonation and then sort of fruity and slightly stewed-apple-sour and cinnamon. It’s interesting, but not what you’d expect from a brown ale. It isn’t sweet and nutty, it has a character of its own and I applaud that. In a broader sense it is an easy drinking, tasty brown ale.

Bottled. An amber beer with a thin tan head. The aroma has notes of malt, fruit, and caramel. The flavor is sweet with notes of malt, caramel, dusty hops, and some boring fruits, leaning on being over ripe. The body is light. Thanks Papsoe for sharing.

Big bottle. Pours a dark brown with ruby highlights and a foamy beige head. Aromas of chocolate and roasted malt, a little bready. Nice flavours of chocolate, brown bread, and a hint of plummy fruit. Smooth mouthfeel, body is on the lighter side but the flavours are nice. Finish is dry with very mild bitterness. A decent brown.

Bottle 330ml.
Unclear medium amber color with a small to average, frothy, good lacing, mostly lasting, off-white head. Aroma is moderate malty, roasted, bread, berry. Flavor is moderate sweet and bitter with a average duration. Body is medium, texture is watery, carbonation is soft. (220808)

(Bottle 33 cl) Pours a hazy dark amber with a small beige head. Discreet aroma of roasted malt. Light body with a heavy carbonation and some notes of roasted malt. The finish is dry without any real bitterness. Indifferent. 220808
