Bottle. Very dark brown with a large light tan head that lasts pretty well. Aroma has slightly acrid roast, chocolate, coffee;’ hints of plums, vanilla, lemon and grass. Some dark toffee sweetness under burnt malt and coffee astringency. Dry bitter finish with some coffee astringency. Some hop flavours in the bitterness that don’t quite sit with the rest of flavours at first, but balance improves as it gets a little warmer.

Bottle from Minibar in Queenstown. Pours black with a medium tan head. Big cocoa nose, with coffee, toffee, molasses, and roasted malt. The flavor follows suit, with better balance. Dry, roasty finish. Medium-full bodied. Active carbonation keeps this from being smoother. Overall, a very nice and straightforward stout.

Big 650ml bottle. Near-black, hearty looking pour with a thick brown head. Bitter roast, chocolate, coffee, and a slight musty/earthy quality fill the nose. Rich, medium bodied, creamy mouthfeel, loaded with flavours of chocolate, coffee, with a beguiling sweet-spicy character. Slightly lactic quality. Low bitterness. Very tasty!

Pours pitch black, diminishing tan head. Robust yeasty chocolate aromas dominate the nose. Dark chocolate flavours are consistent throughout, very little bitterness to balance a bit of spiciness, watery texture.
