COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A mile from mainstream beers and made with organic ingrediants, this beer is full of hops. The initial fresh floral character complements the crisp, bitter finish and rich malt flavour. Here at the Brew Moon we take "hand-crafted" to new heights. Everything in our 600l microbrewery is done by hand with great care. Our beers are made naturally using age-old brewing techniques, malted grain, hops, yeast and good Canterbury water. This beer is not filtered or pasteurized - as a result there may be some sediment in the bottle - fear not! Yeast is good for you.

Notes from my beer tasting night say that is pours a reddish brown colour, slightly cloudy from the yeast. Caramel, cereal, passionfruit, pine and grapefruit on the nose, classy hop attack. Soft and full in the mouth with a lasting bitterness. Nice

Tap @ Galbraith’s. Clear gold pour with a brief, short white head leaving moderate lace. Pine, fruit and toast nose. Medium-light body and medium carbonation - another NZ ale that fades towards the finish. Peach, pine, oatmeal, vanilla, grapefruit. Short, bitter and sucrose finish with a touch of umami late.

UPDATED: MAY 28, 2012 Golden-amber with a full, fluffy white head and eviden carbonation. Lovely grassy notes and lemon scent over the top of orange flesh and golden malts. This is good. Very good. At first it is fresh and fruit juicy and then there’s a soft bitterness where citrus characters begin to come through and then it’s bitter with herbaceous zesty flavors on the finish. I’m enjoying this much more than I expected. Nice one. The recipe has changed since the last time I reviewed this and the main change has been an enormous lift in the aromatic hops on the nose. Before this beer I had reviewed the 8 Wired Hp Wired IPA and raved about the grapefruit and lemon qualities available in the glass. This beer was three dollars cheaper and if anything more satisfying in terms of hop aroma and bitterness. I recommend this to my customers in spades unless we run short and I buy the residual myself. A fantastic local ale and one that I think is an unsung hero of Canterbury brewing.

500ml bottle. Full creamy beige head of sticky foam that crackles and takes ages to settle. Cloudy orange in colour with sweet citrus hop aroma that is pleasant in the nose. Malty caramel and butterscotch flavour.

Bottle. Almost clear amber with a 1cm creamy head that lasts well. Modest aroma has pears, light caramel, citrus, pine, orchard flowers. Taste has solid biscuity malt with some pears, spices and some pine and citrus. Just hints of tropical fruit in lingering bitter finish. Balanced. An old-fashioned IPA that <glances> yep, some won’t think is one and a nice one. Very alive in the mouth.

Orange, with smallish white head. Very slight sweetish aroma, with a hit of hop. Flavour is pleasantly bitter and slightly piny hops. Alright in the mouth.

One of my favourite New Zealand IPA’s. Great hop dominance, without being unbalanced. Recommended.

The sediment sold it and the taste piqued my interest. A bit more carbonated than i was prepared for but a fine beer nonetheless.

Bottle. Pours copper with a medium beige head. Aroma of caramel, grapefruit, lychee citrus and pine - a big floral nose. The flavour is caramel, grapefruit and citrus. Good bitterness. Dry finish. A well balanced beer.
