2.9 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 Ungstrup (23922) - Oamaru, NEW ZEALAND - FEB 14, 2007
Cask at the brewpub. An orange beer with a thin white head. The aroma is sweet malty with notes of caramel and brew mash, like a steeping mash tun. The flavor is sweet with notes of caramel, leading to a bitter, hoppy, and dry end.
3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 fiulijn (10383) - Como, ITALY - DEC 9, 2005
Draught at the Brew Wharf, London Hazy golden color. In the aroma, some fruity hops. The mouthfeel lacks some structure, but the hopping is quite good. Quite different from the English ones, I would treasure the hop and improve the malt impact. The final is a bit watery.
2.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20 harrisoni (10070) - Ashford, Kent, ENGLAND - DEC 19, 2005
Cask handpull at Brew Wharf, , London Xmas Pub Crawl. Hazy pale copper colour. Toffee hop earthy aroma, bit wet in the body as Maeib might say. Could do with a bit more oomph. Pleasant enough though. I just hope that this brewery continues to improve its products.

2.9 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 imdownthepub (7470) - Banbury, Oxfordshire, ENGLAND - FEB 13, 2006
Cask conditioned (probably under gas) at The Brew Wharf, Borough, London. Golden to brown with bubbly head. Dry and light bitter but with a tinny CO2 whack within the beer. Once it settles there is a malty smoothness. Early days yet, but not one to return to.
3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 chriso (7065) - London, Greater London, ENGLAND - DEC 18, 2005
Cask (handpump) at the Brew Wharf, Southwark. Slightly darker amber colour than the Best. many of the same concerns arose with this one - served too cold, a bit to much like hop juice on the palate, slightly thin mouthfeel. There’s maybe a little more earthy and toffeeish character here, but it still could do with something a bit more mellow and a little more body to smooth out the sharp hops.
3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 3fourths (6399) - Boulder, Colorado, USA - JUN 14, 2006
Cask at the brewery in London. Lightly fruity nose, mildly grassy hop scents, some fruity grains and sugars as well. Very sweet overall, gummy bears and sugar. Crisp up front, fruity, chewy sweet. Decent.

Cask@Brew Wharf, Borough, London. Pretty boring, subtle hoppy, citric characters, with a grainy, thin, almost watery mouthfeel.
2.4 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20 Glouglouburp (4780) - Montreal, Quebec, CANADA - SEP 13, 2006
Cask at Brewpub. Partly cloudy golden-copper body with a very small white head. Generic malt character. Lacks hop presence, especially for a Bitter. Some citrus notes and almost no bitterness. Name was changed to Wharf Ordinary, there was a big sign at the bar that read “In anger about the closure of London’s oldest brewery our Wharf Bitter shall now be named Wharf Ordinary and our Wharf Best shall become Wharf Special”. And ordinary it was.
