Draught, Brew Wharf, 7th Sept 2010. Clear amber colour. Resiny US hop nose without being overwhelming. Slips down very easily and seems to lack body and malts to balance it - "all hop and no trousers" was Mes’ quote that is scrawled in my notebook.

Cellar run at Brew Wharf. Hazy gold with a loose bubbled white head. Massive hop cocktail aroma and punchy flavour to back it up. All the hop resin and citrus character that you’d expect from the stash that disappeared into this brew. Excellent stuff!

A Mes rate. Cask cellar run at guess where.
Darkish gold with a thin white head. Lots of hop complexity, loads of character and just a little over the top. Lots of bitterness, very resinous and multi-layered but there is something not quite right. Just slightly too resinous and the malt just isn’t quite ballsy enough to carry it. Sticky without much need and it just feels a bit, all bitterness and no trousers. Sorry Gazza. There is however some things I like about it. A lot. The smell mainly. I’ve certainly never experienced such epic hoppage in an English beer but if you’re gonna go crazy, you need to back it up. I’m just not getting enough malt or any yeast or anything really. Could be brilliant, it’s just missing some important elements.

Medium creamy offwhite lasting head. Hazy opaque yellow body. Catty resiny chalky aroma with floral notes. Bitter-sweet chalky catty strawy taste with meaty honeyish resiny notes. Mid-bodied. Mild faintly fizzy mouthfeel. Dry-bitter resiny nutty funky aftertaste with horseblanket and smoke notes. Nice, but too much simcoe, otherwise good. (0.5pt draft at brewpub.)

Cask cellar run at Brew Wharf, Borough, Thanks to Ang for the offer and to Bobinlondon for insisting they get it. Big hops on the aroma. Gold, slight haze. Big flavour, lots of intense tangerine. Good resin good hop intense flavour. Touch of rubber on the hop, but lovely hopped beer.

Half, two, one at base of cask, one fresh thanks to Ang. Good lacing, dangerously dry-hopped, like the atom bomb, warning EXPLICIT BEER, this is intense, you need protection from this hop assault, your mouth will dry up, your tongue will be reeling from the insane, insane dry-hoppage! This is a hop grenade, just a huge warehouse of hops in one beer, insane! Explicit session alert should be advertised. Succulent grapefruit, strawberries, overtly dry, citrus texture, steaming drunk hops, surely this is renegade a-la carte posh-tits’ sessioning?? This is punk-rock brewing witth a happy hardcore edge and leaves me reeling, messed up and very short on taste buds for the evening’s Brewdog event! This is new wave berwing. Guys make a brown bitter and send it to CAMRA.
