COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
We arrived to a warm small brewhouse, now so named the “Goldfish Bowl” . Water was brought up to brewing speed. A mash tun was filled. We had breakfast. Sparge was started. Hops were opened. A little dose of hops was added. The boil happened. more hops were added. after a while even more hops. particularly pungent hops were added. then even more. Amazingly, having made hop soup, we ran off to the fermenter, it flowed nicely. We filled a fermenter. We hit target volumes and gravity. It smelled very nice. Caused a few, “woah, that smells different!” from all the staff running around the restaurant. We cleaned up. Hoptimum came to be, pitched with yeast Malts: Pale Malt, Cara Gold, CaraPils and Wheat Malt Hops: Magnum, Columbus, Amarillo and Simcoe. About 50ish IBU. Yeast: Cal Ale. Brewers numbers: OG 1.051 FG:tbc. SRM 6ish. 60 min boil.

UPDATED: JUN 2, 2010 A nice refreshing hoppy bouncey session beer. Enjoyable in the summertime! I enjoyed the citrus notes and the honey body. Noticed more Simcoe than Amarillo. The beer was fresh and very very drinkable. Could do with a few more hops. The hops were excellent but I wanted more. I liked this a lot and would gladly drink it in the spring and summer when the weather is good. Great work Phil L and Ang.

Cask - Planet Thanet Festival 2010, Margate. Dark gold in colour with a lasting though fine white head atop. Citrus hops on the nose with a good dose of sweeter hops. Floral on the tongue with crisp lemon notes and a good malty backbone. Lovely crisp and refreshing mouthfeel, light to medium in body with low carbonation and a dry thirst quenching end.

(Cask at Brew Wharf, London Bridge, London, 21 May. 4.8%) Golden amber colour with foamy, off-white head. Fruity, malty nose with grainy malt, cereal and citrus. Fruity, malty taste with notes of peaches, citrus, grainy malt and a generous citrussy bitterness in the finish. Medium body, with balanced sweetness. Quite nice.

Cask handpull at Brew Wharf, Borough. Thanks to Phil and Steve for brewing this and inviting me to the tapping of the barrel. Gold coloured beer with a bubbly white head. Attractive aroma of hops, citrus, pink grapefruit. The mouthfeel was hit by it being just a bit too cold, but properly conditioned, this would be a very drinkable 5.2% APA. More tasty American citrus hops on the finish. I liked it.

A Mes rate. Cask at Brew Wharf.
Deep gold with a thin white head. Given the name I would expect more hops in the aroma. It’s more fruity malt than citric hoppage. Nice enough though. Once in the mouth the moniker makes a little more sense. Big intense hoppy bitterness with some sharp citrus and a faint floral note. It’s almost the polar opposite of the aroma, once the bitterness shows, the malt seems to give way and can’t support it. Flavour hops spot on. Aroma hops not enough. Bitterness hops too much.

Cask conditioned handpump Brew Wharf Borough Market. A golden beer with a nice white loose head. The aroma is a bit sickly to be honest with no sign of the citrus fest going on with the hops. Sharp and intense hop bitterness but in need of more malt backbone to balance the flavours. Hops are certainly plentiful and tasty though.

Cask at Brew Wharf, Southwark, London. A golden pour with small white head. Fresh aroma of hops and citrus fruit. Amarillo and Simcoe hops, quite hoppy in a UK sort of way. A bit one dimensional but not bad.

On tap at Brew Wharf. Slightly hazy gold beer, little white head. Light semi dry palate. Low carbonation. Piney grassy hops, bitter and just a tad green. Traces of orange and grapefruit but this is mostly a grassy bitter pale ale. Dry finish. Alright.
